Dealing With Dante's Royal Guard (New Characters)

Okay, so I'm trying to figure out how to effectively counter Dante's Royal Guard style as Vergil, Lady, and Trish. It's the biggest problem I'm encountering with clearing the Bloody Palace, as it seems like the only thing I can really do is hedge my bets on dodging (or eating a hit because it seems like Dante REALLY doesn't want to switch to something else until he uses a Release.

As Nero, it's a simple matter of running up to him and using the buster.

As Dante, you have Trickster to keep you safe, and Royal Guard to counter it if you're good enough with the timing.

As Vergil, Lady, or Trish... what do you have? I'm sure Judgment Cut End or Trick Down and dash-evades in DT are useful, but I'm looking to find something for each of the characters that lets me safely get Dante into one of his more... cooperative styles. (And by cooperative I mean cooperatively dying.)

I'm guessing Lady's wire grab will probably work nicely, but I'm stumped when it comes to Vergil or Trish.

He tends to royal release if you jump over his head, then switch to something else. Or if you stand in front of him for a second he'll do a plain royal release that can easily be dodged with rolling.

But I don't know if he makes different decisions for new characters, or specifically not doing above.

Okay, thanks for the tip. I'll try that out the next time I work up the patience to slog through all 100 preceding stages again. :X

Is it just me, or do bosses behave a little differently in Bloody Palace?
