Just tab out and manually adjust the volume in volume mixer.

my game isnt muted in the volume mixer. there is just no sound coming from the game for some reason. i did some testing and i found a weird pattern. if i restart my computer the sound will play. but if i close the game and try to restart the game there wont be any sound unless i restart my computer again. i dont understand why but the game worke dperfectly before i upgraded so i think that windows is somehow interfering or something. i just dont know how and why and the means to fix it

Its a DX10 game. DX10 is broken now and is even worse in terms of compatibility with Windows 10. Fps was even worse for me, but my sound worked.

2 things to try:

Set your sound card to 24 bit 44.100 khz
Update your drivers.

I read that realtek sound cards have issues with Windows 10, but they were supposed to be fixed.

is there a thread anywhere that explains this? I had no clue sound cards had issues with w10.

Hey, this post will necro a 3 year old post but I had the same sound issue for Windows 10 and changing the audio output to 44.100 khz fixed it, thanks heaps!!

i hate to necro a post..... after its already been necro-ed, but i'm having the same issue except it wont play any sound at all, i've tried updating my audio drivers, doing what was suggested earlier by changing the card card to 24 bit 44.100 khz, but none of that worked.

its strange cause the last time i played this it worked no problem but i had to get a new harddrive since then. if anyone has any other ideas on how to fix this please let me know.

do yourself a favor and just play dmc5 instead
and here i am 6 years later with this same problem now on windows 11, absolutely no sound, but it only started when i had to unhook my headset and untangle the cord, before that only half the audio would play, attacks had no sound, but nero and dante still spoke and made grunt and pained noises

really sounds like i shouldn't have bought any of the DMC games on PC
Try these Realtek Audio Drivers I guess.
