Could it be that it happens as the camera angle switches? That's the only thing that kicks me out of it from time to time.
Having the same problem, really annoying if you want to back away from an enemy.
Maybe driver-related problems with deadzone recognition or something?
Well anyway, feel for you man,if that actually happened to me while using the X-Axis I would have abandoned the game faster than a speeding bullet.
I tried various fixes including editing the axis' in the device menu. None of that worked, I sadly had to buy a new controller. I've been using a logitech gamepad with no errors.
The sticks on this logitech just feel --- wrong. Well atleast I can play the game now.
Btw joy.cpl can't help me, calibrate whole day, nothing changes in game (perfectly works with all directions in joy.cpl)
Weird, works perfectly fine for me. Have you tried NOT pushing the analog stick ALL the way in the four directions? It tricks it into thinking that's the furthest it can go, so when it's all done and dusted, you can push the analog further than it thinks the furthest point is, essentially maxing out the end of the deadzone easily.
edit : i was just playing with my old broken controller, no tears now
