Vergil in DMC4 timeline confusion
Other than Vergil being as great as he was in DMC3... What timeline does Vergil fit into DMC4? Is he thrown in for no explanation just to have him there? Or is he a legitimate character, doing his dark hunting in a seperate part of the timeline?

the only canon parts of his campaign are the opening and closing cutscenes, gameplay wise he;s just one big power trip, he has upgraded versions of his abilities, can be freely played across the entire main campaign, and is generally fun to use.
basically vergil came to fortune a few decades before dmc4, it's implied he spent a lot of time there and got a prostitute pregnant. of course since we've only recently confirmed that vergil is nero's father through a translated japanese art book from capcom, the cruel truth is we don't know what the exact circumstances were or if nero is truly vergil's son in the traditional sense, I've heard clone theories thrown around.

vergil was exploring his father's history at the time, and when he left he basically says "he can't call them misguided" though as to what this ultimately means to the plot is unknown.

Thank you, so much. I was confused by whatever the wiki had for its storyline.
