even if it did have mouse support it would suck since the average mouse only has 3 buttons
and to play DMC properly you need far more then just 3 buttons for you right hand
and mouse+keyboard got more hotkeys than a controller will ever have
you need both hands on the keybord to play properly
unless you have one of those mouses with 8 buttons
you would be wasting your hand if you were holding the mouse
That's actually terrible, they shouldn't just assume that people don't want the option.
I beat DmC on DMD with a trackpad(not that I'm saying that game is quite to the level of this, but similar enough genres), you can play any way you want if you put your mind to it.
because your almost always locked onto enemies
using a mouse would just put you at a disadvantage because a normal mouse does not have enough buttons to play DMC4 properly
DmC does not have lock on so camera movement is needed more so a mouse works better
but due to it's lack of lock on the combat in DmC is far less complex when compared to DMC 4
one hand on a keyboard can reach around 100 hotkeys (ctrl+, shift+,alt+ just as the base stuff).
the reason you use a mouse is for fast easy directional view or attack angle. (not to mention if you got a nyth or naga you just added 19 hotkeys extra on one hand+ full control of camera movement and attack angles if the game got proper mouse support)
on top of that using rmb and lmb feels a lot smoother together with this than anything else.
and ofcouse you will play optimally using two hands (you want be playing it on 1 handed controller either and you will be doing that job 10 times better on either a keyboard or a keypad(both pc))
but the whole "then you need both hands" argument is stupid, since ofcosue we use both hands as pc gamers.
proper mouse support will ALWAYS put you at a high ADVANTAGE vs a controller -.- why do you think that kb+m is FAR superior to any controller setup
thats ignoring that gamers which goes for optimizing this area will be heaving gear specificly for the purpose they need, which will FAR outdo ANYTHING a controller can be used for, when the hardware is supported.
i have been playing DMC 4 for 7 years
and i am unable to think of a good control lay out that uses a mouse
but i'm sure you would be able to come up with something
here let me give you the standard that would be FAR better. (and should just be the standard port control scheme)
"mouse controls camera: remove any accelleration bs from it which would make it very responsive".
"all input keys can be hotkeyed to whichever key you like, including the LMB and RMB"
and if you want to get really fancy allow for us to control the FOV, since fov 90 should be standard for any pc game -.-
that's like a whole 10 lines of code or so, to add this (assuming it is not already there), and the change of a few parameters.
took all but 6 seconds to come up with a FAR better control system for pc than there is in the game now.
the sad thing is they have people getting paid VERY good amounts for apparently sitting on their asses being lazy and stupid....
i am always amazed of how bad basic control schemes of especially ported games are -.-
it is like the developer put ZERO effort into making the controls function well on the pc :/
do you know what dante's styles are?
it is 100% irrelevant whether someone played dmc or not to if the control system is good or bad.
(and yes i played dmc games from the first game came out -.- back when there was a reason to have a console for gaming :P )
look sould you be able to use the mouse if you want to? yes
but my whole point here is they way DMC 4's combat is set up
makes me think useing a normal mouse (left click ,right click ,scroll weel) is just not enough buttons to play this game effectively
with one hand on only 3 buttons and maybe siwtching weapons with the scroll weel
you would be doing too much with your left hand
do keep in mind that the mouse is ONE hand, its primary purpose is to control a camera and your attack direction (since aiming with a mouse is words better than any other system for this).
secondary having at least 2 (often far more) keys for easy to hit WHILE having perfect control over the aim is really nice and makes combat feel much better.
you seem to forget that even ignoring you having more than enough keys around your second hand, you would have shift+lmb/rmb/rmb+lmb, alt with ctrl with the same and without, so thats already 9 keys there.
and come on lets be serious if it was a hotkey problem a controller would be useless....
it is more than proven by now that when it comes to making fast keycombo's and hotkey use, kb+m is far superior :/
i never though about using shift or alt to change what the mouse buttons do
i guess your convinced me
it's just i always use a controler for 3rd person games
so i never though about using the mouse in that way
i guess capcom should take your advice for DMC 5
It just feels odd not having my primary means of offense be M1 in any PC game, lol.
I wish I could play a demo of it to see if I can manage it with just a keyboard, I kind of want to put off buying a gamepad unless its absolutely necessary.
