Honest ethical thing to do at this point with this game

Currently obtained ***-girl repack of this game and am considering seeding to others that want a non headache induced way to play the game no issues on higher end hardware. Currently it's a real hard game to find and I notice no one is hosting it in the current state due to the current state of affairs and the repacks being almost 8 years old.

pretty much which is what shocked me honestly. I'm still looking for an old Codex one to test that version as well. They use a 2016 build of the game if I remember correctly. I'm going to rush through each character and see if the game crashes or their any noticeable issues.

Probably using their version's exe might solve the crashes.

Basically finding the right steam_depot to rollback the exe version might help.

Can you try this 2019 exe version[x.com] as well? Backup your current exe first.

Maybe with Codex version Fits are usually integrated with her own exe for easy uninstall purposes. Codex came in ISO file you would just open and remove the game folder with just having to move the the cracked steam api into the folder. Unfortunately when Ragrb got the axe most CODEX cracks got lost to time.

I've found the codex one I'll let you know once I've downloaded it also found one that uses a 2019 build so I'll keep you posted once its all finished by the end of the day.

I ran the exe in the ***-girl did you want me to use the trainer and stuff to. It just ran fine with just the EXE copy over with none of the added files

Nice. I also did some file comparison between ***-girl and this version via WinMerge.

So downgrading the exe from Steam (possibly the steam_api.dll file as well) might work?

Probably move your game folder to where Steam games are located then Install which might save time but it will verify files. Keep your downgraded exe and dll file I guess.

So these are the files I copied from fitgirls the steam api.dll/steam api.ini/devilmaycry4specialdedition.exe
It all works even the steam overlay and controller support

In my case, the Steam Overlay is partially working somehow. I can see some Steam related stuffs when I'm holding and dragging but the overlay itself is not visible. Tested on both Fullscreen and Windowed.
