Start-Up Crash Fix Not Working

Hey all,

I just finished DMC3 and was looking forward to going on to the next game in the series. However, each time I attempt the open DMC4 Special Edition it opens for a fraction of a second and immediately closes. I have tried doing the start-up crash fix from the top of the discussion boards and can follow it up until I have to find the hex values. Where it is supposed to say "80 02 00 00" according to the guide, mine says "91 A2 5B E1." Has anyone else had this issue? Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks for the response but, as I said in my post, I already tried that method and it did not work to completion.

There was a recent update for the game last August 2023 on the exe so I think it messed up the hex value, try replacing the exe with this one https://github.com/serpentiem/ddmk/issues/350

I opened the exe in HxD and the value is missing there as well. Moreover, when I try to edit where the value should be to what it should be according to the guide, it still does not function.

Someone here claimed that they found the hex address after downgrading the exe file.

i still got the old update if someone wants it, could replace the updated files with the old ones and it should work

I had a crash on a start up of dmc 4 special edition. I was able to fix the problem by right click on a DevilMayCry4SpecialEdition.exe, Properties, than go to Compatibility tab and check the option "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution". After the game launched you can change the resolution inside the game

Thanks for all the replies guys. I actually just contacted Capcom support and followed their instructions. What did it for me was using a display driver uninstaller (https://www.wagnardsoft.com/display-driver-uninstaller-ddu-) and then reinstalling both my drivers and my DirectX. Hope this helps someone!
