DirectX10 for Windows 7
I'm on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) Operating System and my DirectX Version is currently 11. I tried updating it and even trying to go back to DirectX 10 (but it said that the most updated version is already installed). And my PC has also installed all recent updates and yet every time I try to play this game, a message always pops up saying "ERRO3 : Failed to initialize DirectX 10" ( http://prntscr.com/c7bkc6 ).

I've been searching through here and all over the web for a possible solution but most people have different operating systems from me (usually Windows 10) so I'm wondering if anyone here can help me. I've went to verify the intergity of the game's cache and it said everything was fine. I was also recommended to try running the game via compatibility mode ( http://prntscr.com/c7bmmf ) and so far nothing. If anyone has a solution or know of the cause of this, please let me know. Thank you!

The only time I've seen this message is on windows 8.1 or 10. The cause of it there is people trying to get around the crashing problem by forcing it to run on older dx10 system files.

As for windows 7, all windows versions from vista upwards support directx10. Does your gpu support directx10? Bear in mind that directx support is 2 parted: the software side from the OS you are using and the hardwares side which comes from supported gpus.

What are your specs?

Well since its a dell inspiron laptop, I'm guessing you have an intel gpu? As far as I know even they support directx11. Do you know the name of your gpu? Just navigate one tab to the right in the directx diagnostic program you had opened. It'll be listed under display.

http://prntscr.com/c7iuy2 - I think this might be it. I apologize for the long delay since I'm also kinda new to these issues as far as graphic processing units and what supports what and etc.

Wow. Thats a pretty old gpu you have there. Intel GMA 3100. Nope. It doesn't support dx10. Only DX9. Thats why you have that error.

Even if it did support dx10, that hardware is nowhere near strong enough to run games on. Even older ones will struggle.

Is it possible to upgrade it or would I just have to get another computer with better hardware?

Also out of curiousity and to understand the concept of graphic processing, how is my PC able to support dx9 but it's on dx11?

First question: only ram and storage can be upgraded in laptops. Cpu and gpu is set in stone, so you'd have to purchase a better machine.

Second question: directx support is 2 parts: part 1 is software support from the OS (xp was dx9 only, vista was dx9 and dx10 but dx11 was added later, 7 is dx9, dx10 and dx11). Part 2 is hardware support from your gpu and yours only supports dx9. So you have part 1, but not part 2 if that makes sense.
