Questions regarding difficulty settings
I always start with the highest difficulty and I did that here as well (legendary devil hunter), despite having never played any DMC games or many games even in the genre. I'll admit it, I was getting pretty frustrated. It took me two hours to complete the first level.

I decided to check out the devil hunter difficulty and was shocked by how ridiculously easy the game was all of a sudden. Checking out the wiki it seems that there are other difficulties available but they are locked behind progression walls.

- Are my only options to grind through the easy difficulty or keep hitting my head against the wall on the highest difficulty mode?
- If I opt for the grind route, how long is the game?
- It seems that going from LDH to DH I kept my unlocks. Does it work the other way around? If I play through parts of the game in DH, can I take my unlocks to LDH?

yes you will keep the all the skills you buy

the game is 20 missions long

Human is the Easy
Devil Hunter is Normal

when you beat Devil Hunter you get Son of Sparda (hard diffcutly)

Ledgendry Dark Knight is the same as Son of Sparda only there far far more enemies.

LDK was originally only on the pc version of the vanilla game and had to be unlocked. it's not meant to be played for you first playthrew.

Heaven or hell (you and enemies die in one hit) and Hell and Hell (only you die in one hit) are also at Son of Sparda.

Dante must die is the Hardest mode the game has you unlock it after Son of Sparda.

when you unlock one difficutly it's unlocked for all the characters.

Thank you for the reply. That helps quite a bit. I'll probably play through Devil Hunter and see about going back to LDH with some more health and abilities.

that mode is more of a for fun challange mode to grind tons of orbs and proud souls so you'll probally enjoy it more when you got a better grasp on the gameplay.

also it's "Ledgendy Dark Knight"
not "Ledgendry Devil Hunter"
sorry but it was just bugging me cus Sparda (Said Ledgendry Dark Knight) is a very important charcter in the seires.

You can try this mod if you want higher difficulty than Dante Must Die (hardest)

Seems that the achievement name confused me.

1, 2 - You seemed to be confused. Playing through the game is 20 missions, and you'd finish the game less repetitively (less grinding) if you played through the lower difficulty and came back to LDK.

3 - Yeah, you retain your unlocks between difficulties.

If you want a comment on LDK mode, it's not actually hard once you've acquired all your upgrades.
  1. AOE-like attacks are very effective, and you easily get an S rank because of the bonus for hitting multiple enemies at once. And because of this, it's also very easy to get a huge payout of Proud Souls, making upgrades easy to get.
  2. You may be able to find some strategic spots on the map to do these safely from.
  3. The actual game difficulty is the second highest, just with increased spawns.
It's like a weird fun mode that shows off the performance of the software. There's another weird mode, which may come across as a higher difficulty level, but really isn't either.
