Dreadnaught =/= Juggernaut =/= Devil Trigger
Okay, so I saw a lot of newbies complain about the "Juggernaut" form of Dante, how its too slow or doesn't replenish his health, mostly on other forums but also a few times here. So let me clarify:

Dreadnaught and Devil Trigger are not the same, nor is Juggernaut an official term for anything.

Dreadnaught is only accessible by Dante after fully upgrading Royal Guard, and can only be accessed by hitting Back + Style button while locked on. It turns that angry energy into a shell that automatically reduces damage received. It does NOT make you invincible on its own, but is about as effective as a normal Block. If you're new and still developing your skills, it's a nice handicap thanks to the boosted defense and greatly boosting Dante's resistance to flinching. However, just like normal Devil Trigger, powerful attacks from large enemies and bosses can still knock you off your feet, even if they don't deal much damage. In addition, the weight of the "armor" hugely hinders your movement speed when moving normally, but you can nullify this somewhat by jumping, using long range melee attacks like Stinger, or switching to Trickster.

Devil Trigger shouldn't need an explanation, but I'll give it anyway. The signature transformation of the series, Dante can activate his devil blood and acquire health regeneration and boosted damage and attack speed as well as super armor and better defense. However, the defense and super armor are weaker than Dreadnaught. To make up for that, you can use moves like Sky Star, double jumps and wall kicks one extra time, gifting you with much greater maneuverability.

As for Juggernaut, it's the unofficial term for when you use Dreadnaught and Devil Trigger at the exact same time. You get the full benefits of Devil Trigger, but the defense and super armor from both DT and Dreadnaught stack to make Dante completely invulnerable. You could even activate it during the fight with The Savior and just stand there and absorb its giant laser attack like you're getting a sun tan at the beach. If you are lucky enough to activate both without a Super costume, you can freely regenerate health as well without worrying about losing any until either the DT Gauge or the Rage meter runs out.

So, there. Newbies, if you're going to play with Devil Hunters, do your homework first.

The issue with Dreadnaught is that the amount of skill needed in Royal guard to gain access to it, makes using it redundant, it's poorly implemented.

Dreadnaught has the player pretty much take Zero Damage when in use, but in order to use Dreadnaught for a decent amount of time you would need a full Royal Guard bar, in order to get a full Royal Guard bar Fast you would need to preform a bunch of Perfect guards. If the player is
skilled enough to be able to pull off Perfect Guards consistently then that make the use of Dreadnaught pointless, and the Bar better used for dealing damage with Release.

DMC5 didn't keep Dreadnaught for a reason. Royal Revenge is a much better ability for an average player still learning RG

At the very least, that redundancy is somewhat negated by the Super costume, but I agree. It's poorly implemented.

It might have seen better use as a passive upgrade for Devil Trigger while using RG instead of an actual move.

But some newer players will probably want the defense over RG's damage output. It's a shame, but some folks just never fully utilize RG simply because of how much skill and practice it demands.

I mean, I'm not really one to talk. I use the Juggernaut form all the times on LDK and DMD, since I'm too reckless to bother with Perfect Guards in the first place. But the core issue remains - Dreadnaught is just not worth it.
