DMC 4 vs DMC 4 SE ? Performance & Visuals
DMC4 is one of my favorite games of all time.
I bought a physical copy as it just came out in 2008 and loved every moment of this game.
Later when it was on sale on Steam with DMC3 I bought both digitally. Planned to play it at some point.

However DMC4 SE came out shortly after I bought it. The game sounded great except numerous complaints and videos stating/showing massivw performance issues.
People complain getting much inferior visuals to their original DX9/10 DMC4 (2008) vs this DMC 4 SE. I remember seeing a video with a guy running both benchmarks and getting 100s fps on SE ans 300s fps on the original.

That's ridiculous.

Also some claim the graphics of the original are better. And that SE adds a filter of smearing AA and color.

I don't know what's true or rumors, and what was or wasn't addressed by patches.

As it stands today- with the current state of DMC4 SE -
Which is the preferable version? Which runs better or do they run the same now?
Waiting for a sale on DMC4 SE but would like to know what I am getting into.
Thanks!

Just look up a recent 4k comparison video on youtube. That should answer your questions

My main concern is especially the performance.
If it's that bad as people said on launch. I wasn't following on the game.
Maybe they 0atched
It... the game is on sale now (lol my timing!)
So I would really appreciate some answers.

I have both and I prefer SE. I don't know about visuals and performance, but I've been playing SE bloody palace with the new characters (don't realy care about the campaign) and I thought it looks fantastic and runs at more than 100fps, unless you absolutely need to play at 300 fps (which I don't recall if the original game does). That said, I've experienced alot of crashes.

Your best bet then is to make use of Steam's refund policy, get the game, play as much as you can during the first two hours and see for yourself.

Wish there was at least a DMC4 owner's discount. It's sad that I bought DMC4 (2nd time In buy the game) and now I might but DMC4 SE (3rd time) without ever playing DMC4 on Steam.
I can't all for refund past 14 days too..

Think I will get it.
Still find it so funny that I asked about this game and said I am waiting for a discount -then few hours later in the same day Steam announced a big CAPCOM sale. Haha.
Should have asked for a million bucks.

The performance issues are really apparent in any place with around seven enemies at once. The original had absolutely no problems rendering an upwards of one-hundred, but damn mate if you get five scarecrows in one place and you don't have a 1080 on hand, enjoy the slideshow.

Overall I suggest getting it, even if I can't stand it due to the camera and performance, but I also suggest that you prepare for some frustration thanks to either/or.

Note: I use a custom 780 TI that runs every game, from Skyrim SE to TW3, at 60FPS in 1600x900. Only setting even touched down from the Ultra setting were the shadows. I barely get 70FPS while idle in DMC4 SE.

This sounds terrible!
Is this really true?
What the hell?

I remember playing DMC4 dx9 or dx10 back in 2008 in probably a Radeon 4800 or 5800 at well over 120 FPS at 1920 x 1200 no less!! (unlocked no vsync - game is capped at 120) - even in harsh modes like Legendary Dark Knight with dozens/hundred enemies on screen (the fps would drop by not unplayable).
Game gad groundbreaking mind blowing graphics for the time and yet it was super optimized. Best port ever.
How can a game that looks exactly alike with a filter struggle with modern gpus??

I won't buy the game unless someone tells me this is false and the game runs fine...

i72600k
16gbram
680gtx 2GB.

Max settings - 60fps. no worries. no crashes. runs better than dmc4 on pc. looks better. has more content. EZ.
