And the reason you don't like it it's because you play dmc5 first and as you said you "started climbing down the ladder of DMC games". Everybody recommends starting on 1 or 3 (skip 2) and then go to 4 and then 5 to feel how much the games have improved and not the opposite.
It's a discussion about the game, on the discussion forum for the game.
I will play 1 and 3, then. This is the primary reason i made the post, to receive some advice from DMC veterans so that i can enjoy this franchise as much as i possibly can. Thanks.
Anyway, I only recently started DMC5, and I agree so far. The level design is less annoying without those rotating blade puzzle thingies that were everywhere in DMC4. There are still too many useless cutscenes in DMC5, like why does everything need to interrupt me? Destroyed one of those vine things? Cutscene. Picked up an alien parasite key thingy? Cutscene. Some enemies spawned? Cutscene. Cutscene, cutscene, cutscene. F*ck off with those useless 5 second cutscenes constantly. Other than that, the game has been great.
1) the room where you fight the Bianco Angelos for the first time is too cramped and too dark to be fighting such mobile enemies (This is a real pain in DMD)
2) fighting the Faust and Mephistos on the lift at the beginning of mission 10, no space and the enemies can phase through the walls, so once you down them, you can miss your opportunity to punish them, losing you time and frustrating you in general.
3) the second mandatory fight of mission 17 where you fight assaults and a mephisto/faust. No camera control and you fight in such a cramped space. So if the faust/mephisto phases through the wall you face the same issues as the previous example when you down them.
Some enemies are also genuinely terrible. Chimera infected assaults and scarecrows are the worst offenders because they go against what DMC is all about, launching your enemy and styling on them, but those little turds can passively damage you with their swinging blades ruining your style meter and staggering you to boot. They are not fun and just a chore to fight on harder modes, making the jungle sections of the game almost unbearable.
And of course, the puzzle and platforming sections are VERY hit or miss.
Overall, the game has a million flaws but the things it does right are SO right, namely the depth of combat and Dante as a whole throughout the course of the story. This may not be the best DMC but I love it as though it was prodigal child of mine. DMC 5 improves on a lot of DMC 4's issues and is overall more polished (as any sequel should be) so I understand how going from the former to the latter may give off an underwhelming impression.
havent played dmc5 cause broke and poor
Combat in DMC3 4 and 5 is still the best in genre. That's pretty much all I need.
When I first played this in 2010 or 2011, the base version on Ps3 didn't come with proud souls and you had to grind through that awful progression system, with every move becoming more expensive each time you bought something. It was like a punishment for playing the game. Not sure if they were trying to push microtransactions or just artificially extend the gameplay time, but it was a true drag.
I miss the puzzles in 5. Just wish they were optional here.
The removal of dumb gimmick sections and baby's first """puzzles""" in DMC 5 is one of the best things about it.
