How to Dodge?
I played a few 15+ Hours DMC5 now and wen't back to this game due to being curios how different it is and cause I have not beaten it yet.

The first thing that astounded me is, that DMC4 is way faster when it comes to Attacking and Combo Input "delay" much more timing based than DMC5, the 2nd thing is dodging in this game feels infinitely harder, was dodging during a Combo just not possible in DMC4 and you are locked in the Attack Animation? I tried Mission 2 first Boss and I was unable to dodge any Attack of his, despite hitting the dodge button combination and trying it out, out of combat.

How does the Timing/Dodging work in this game and is it just easier in DMC5 than in 4? I know Jumping gives I-Frames, but I am specifically curios about "proper" dodging.

Are you playing on Turbo mode? You might have turned it on earlier which makes the game faster. The dodge works similarly, lock and press a direction and the jump button. You get some invincibility during the initial roles.

I already checked, Turbo Mode is definetly not enabled. It seems like DMC5 made it only possible to dodge whenever you want...

I tried the Dodge roll without enemies, but when I see an attack coming and try to dodge it seems I am stuck in Attack Animation.

dmc4 and dmc5 run at pretty much the same speed. some people have claimed that the attacks in 4 are faster, but there are many comparison videos out there showing thats not the case.
one thing thats important to note when using dodge roll is wether or not an attack can be animation canceled. different attacks can be canceled by different moves. i.e only a few attacks can be canceled with normal jumps or dodges, a few more by using royal guard, and neros dt (4 and 5) and his break-age can cancel every attack animation (afaik).

So the thing that changed is Gravity, since Nero seems to descent faster and needs better timing to actually stay into the air with Roulette Spin while in DMC5 it is easier?

Still, when I played as V, Dante, or Nero in DMC5 I could dodge no matter the Ground Attack Animation, but in DMC4 this seems to be not the case.

(Exception with V being Execution Skill)

Cancelling into dodge rolls or jumps in DMC 4 is exactly the same as it is in 5.

Lol, just like in every DMC.

I mean, that's not how it is in any DMC except for maybe 2. You can cancel out of attacks in 1, 3, 4 and 5 pretty damn easily.

You're locked in attack frames, but you can cancel recovery frames that come afterwards (yeah, in DMC2 you can't even cancel recovery frames, that's why it's unplayable garbage). But you can't cancel attack frames like in Bayonetta, except for Nero's DT activation in 4.

That's not true. Almost all attacks can be cancelled before they come out (not in 1, but with 3 and 5 I can say with absolute certainty that's the case). And in the air, literally any move can be cancelled at any point no matter what - and jump cancel combos are exactly how Nero is supposed to be played in DMC 4.

You've played different DMC 3 and 5 obviously.

Cancelling is where 90% of the depth and combo potential in DMC combat comes from, you sure you've played more than 2 hours of them?

We're not talking about combo potential and jump cancels. We're talking about basic ground attack coding stuff.
