Game Won't Run! Crashes at Startup!
I can't launch the game, fails to start.

I haven't played DMC4SE since DMC5 came out. Today I felt like revisiting it, but strangely the game doesn't start!
I press play, black window appears, then disappear and... nothing happens.
Tried using the Exe and didn't work as well.
Also tried closing MSI Afterburner (which also closed Riva Tuner) but it didn't help.

I'm using the latest Nvidia driver and latest big Windows update build (1903 I think).

Can anyone help?

EDIT:
Tried uninstalling the game and completely removing the folder, the save file and the ini config file. And reinstalling - didn't work.
Also it didn't restore the Visual c++ redi folders and DX folders - and I already removed the 2010 Vredis from control panel - so I don't how to restore it too.

Also the game does work on my PC monitor 1440p 144hz - but not on my TV! 4K 60hz!
Won't launch at all on the TV. Please help!

Anyone?
Used to work for the last 183 hours of playtime.
Doesn't work on my new LG OLED 4K TV .
Works on Samsung 4K TV. Works on my Asus PC Monitor.
Most bizzare issue ever.
Game can't run at all.
Black window appear. After a few seconds it crashes and closes.

Have you tried setting the in-game resolution to 4K before hooking up your PC to your 4K display?

Any idea how to do that properly? I think I tried doing it with the ini but it failed. Maybe I didn't do it right. My Monitor only supports up to 1440p.
Oh I think I also tried setting it with DSR then disabling it and trying on the TV.
Strangely it didn't happen on my other 4K KS8500 Samsung TV (last I check)

Hmm, altering the resolution in the ini file was going to be my suggestion. Did you make sure to set the 4K display as your main monitor when you connected it?

Yeah I even unplugged the power from my other monitor, so it won't collide. Making it undetectable.
I don't think it's related to resolution. Because my TV supports 1440p too, and since it worked flawlessly on my older TV as well.
Also I noticed the size of the black window changes as I changed the resolution - but it still closes and crashes as soon as it runs. Failing to launch.

Have you tried launching in Windowed mode?

Right-click game in Library > Properties > General > Set Launch Options > Type in "-windowed" without the qutoes > press "okay"

Having the same issue, tried uninstalling a few times and still not working, I open the game, it starts up then instantly stops running without giving an error message. I am not even sure if it ever worked as this would be the first time playing the game.

Hey, have you tried launching the game with the -windowed command as detailed in my above post?

Hey OP, I know it's been a while, but were you ever able to solve this? Did launching in windowed mode help?

Hey, I'm sorry I didn't reply before. Unfortunately I can't test this anymore, because I returned my C9 TV a few weeks ago (long story) - and now back to my KS8500 4K TV. And guess what? The issue is GONE, even on a fresh non-tweaked exe file. The issue is just gone with this TV, despite both being 4K at 60hz.
Weird as hell.
Wish I could test it though. If this happens again, or if I get another C9 TV I will let you know if your fix helped. Truly appreciate the help.

I see I see. Glad I could help though, enjoy the game!

Same problem on a 4K Visio. Works fine on monitor, immediate crash on TV. Forced windowed mode in config, then deleted config, no diff.

Edit: Ok, found a workaround - this assumes you have a secondary display like my monitor where the game does launch. Just choose duplicate display mode, then launch the game. Once it's launched, alt-tab, WIndows Key+P, then choose only your TV. A hassle, but it works to get it running on my 4K TV at least.
