The End?

I made it just past the hermit's house where a magenta beam of light was shooting out of some kind of ruin or statue. Then my deer laid down and slept and I got sent back to the title screen. Is that the end of the beta?

I'm hoping not because I had only been playing for a half hour and I believe was only on day 5 or 6. Why did I get sent back to the menu?

I think you must have died from hunger, unless you finished all of the quests in the game.

Hm... Maybe. Wouldn't I have become a porcupine or something first tho? I only played twice last night and the first time I died I became a porcupine. But second time I just laid down as a deer on that ruin thing and instantly went to the title screen.

Related note: is it possible to continue to advance after dying and coming back as a porcupine? I was very confused the first time it happened and was stuck in a valley where I couldn't escape. That doesn't make very much sense user experience wise, if you force the player to reset the game or sit there and wait for his porcupine to die of hunger.
