Leap of faith?

I've encountered the wind elder and keep running into him after what looks like a big jump. He always says the same thing. Is this the "try again" notification for my leap? Do I just need to be an old enough deer to be able to jump this thing in one leap?

Encountering this as well. I keep making the leap, but no matter how old I am (got to 23 days) nothing would ever happen.

*spoiler* the leap of faith is where you land on 4 of those blocks at the bottom of the cliff. then you jump up and talk to the elder on the other side.

Right, figured this out. All this time I've been using double-jump to get straight to the elder. This is a bit frustrating given that you get double-jump very early on, and when the chasm appears I didn't think about jumping INTO the void at all but rather figured to double-jump across it. It took quite a few playthroughs to figure this out.

I made a few jumps where I went beyond the bottom platform and then jumped up to the elder and still got the "try again" message. Perhaps that landing platform should be longer. Also, moving the elder to the bottom would make it less confusing (but more spoilery).

The game generated this leap of faith so many times thanks to my not figuring out that you had to jump into rather than across the chasm that eventually the elder would spawn on-top of itself and the text would turn into gibberish that scrolled out of the window. Why ask me to do a big single jump if I already have double-jump?

It didn't help that he said that this challenge was at the "Great Falls" and there weren't even any waterfalls in that spot. I had no idea where he was talking about.
