Statue of Liberty boss?
I remember fighting Statue of Liberty in New York CIty chapter in Sigma version.
Why don't we have this same boss in this remake?

Because it wasn't in the original Ninja Gaiden 2 on the Xbox 360, nor was that other statue that you fight in the opening chapter of Sigma 2. Those statue bosses were actually added in retroactively from the devs for that particular version of the game. Personally, I'm glad they came to their senses and didn't include either of those two statue bosses in this new "Black" version because they were abysmal boss fights that did next to nothing to improve the scope of the core gameplay, especially for this type of game.

The statue boss was fine. The issue is that you did the same fight 3 times and it felt like padding.

Fighting the Buddha once would've been a good addition if they left it at that. There are far dumber boss fights in Vanilla.

Fair enough I suppose, fighting the Buddha statue just once when it first makes an appearance wouldn't have been too bothersome for me probably, but overall I just feel like these types of boss fights where they're in the background and colossal while you're fighting them behind a ledge or whatever belong in something more akin to a God of War game or something.

It just doesn't really work for Ninja Gaiden's core game design compared to the more traditional "arena" style boss fights IMO.

But hey, at least they also didn't bring back the giant worm from NG2 either, which was probably the worst boss fight of them all if being honest. I'd gladly take the statue bosses over that one any day.

Half the bosses and mini bosses in the first game were basically just that though, giant monsters that you attack when they entered Ryu's playable area or retreated and used a projectile attack that makes u dodge.......

Worms....
Bone Dragon...
Lava Dragon....
The Giant Statue Lady that has 2 phases and are gimmick fights
The wierd Sarlacc pit 2 tentacle monster that signals the start of the fiend invasion....

But yeah the buddha statue in sigma really drags out the first level

I don't even know which is my favorite boss fight

Maybe Doku first fight?
The big monster with laser eyes?
I think Black has a mirror fight with Fiend Ryu?
Theyre all good.

I haven't played NG2 enough honestly for a good opinion....
but the buddha in sigma 2 really does drag out the first stage and does feel like padding.

I think its fine to have colossal type bosses as well as the more human sized ones. It's an action game, variety is expected and enjoyment will vary.

Implementation of Buddha should've been difficulty based imo. Like with NGB, you had boss encounters and enemy types get altered between difficulty levels.

In Acolyte and Warrior, pacing is more important as its for newer players so no Buddha. In Mentor, Buddha shows up. In Master, Buddha shows up and his face breaks off towards the end of the fight, sending him to phase 2 which has all of the statue of liberty gimmicks plus more aggression.

No content wasted.

I think its a loss for this version. Less content is less content no matter what the crazy purists say. Should been optional imo.

Yeah, i agree. They removed a few sigma bosses which is a shame. They even removed the worm boss in chapter 13 or something which was included in the OG.
