Eventually, you take the time to actually dig into the movement, the move sets, the weapon lists, and realize just how amazingly detailed and carefully crafted the combat system is.
As a casual player just looking to dip in, its a great game you will get 10 hours out of a single story run - and then you'll unlock all the post game modes and new difficulties.
Its a game that keeps rewarding you as you challenge yourself, and you walk away feeling proud of yourself.
However, there is a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mechanics and fights, alot of frustrating moments where its hard to figure out how to win and hard to execute even when you do know. ANd sometimes, bosses just straight up hit you with combos that are the ultimate ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
But its a great experience. Highly recommend.

alot of lil changes in the first game honestly. main thing is Sigma basically was the PS3 port of the OG Xbox (NOT 360) Ninja Gaiden, so it got updated graphics that put it on par with NG2 on 360 just about. They added 3 or 4 levels that you play as Rachael and got rid of the original original stuff like the Xbox shrine (of course lol), they streamlined 2 parts of the game that really went into a Legend of Zelda direction and slowed the pace of the game down (the underwater section really sucked I remember but still it didn't make the game bad just was jarring that part and stressful)
they changed how running on water works, they changed sound track playlists and cues, they added the dual katanas, they also removed the Original ninja gaiden games you could unlock but that was the original release only
they changed the whole area where you meet a certain bad guy who likes fire alot
but its still pretty much the same game all 3, just different refinements
NG2 compared to NG2 Sigma? very different.....
I like this new version personally, NG2 Black is pretty good honestly
I would get master collection personally and NG2 Black.
and if u really liked ng sigma (first game), get ninja gaiden black aswell
Or just get Ninja Gaiden Black on xbox, i think you can get ng2 and play it on series x anyway right?
It's definitely better than Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 that comes with the Master Collection for starters, and the modern updated graphics are a nice touch for sure. Plus I'm sure the game will eventually have really good mod support thanks to the mod-friendly Unreal 5 Engine it now runs on (according to people who actually mod have said this anyway, so take that as you will from someone who knows next to nothing about how mods work lol) so I'm sure that most if not all of the mods that are currently available for NGS2 on PC will eventually come to this new "Black" iteration eventually.
Otherwise, Ninja Gaiden Black on the Xbox is my personal favorite of the whole series (with Sigma 1 being a very close 2nd) so you can't really go wrong with either, in my opinion (or even better, get both if you can!)
People have far more balanced opinions on Sigma 1 and Black. Die hard OG fans will always tell you to play Black, but Sigma is absolutely fine and has some design choice that makes more sense.
2 Is where some of the more cringe-inducing OG fans will get a spasm if you dare to even like Sigma 2, I like it more 2, the main game play is insane, but there are some really bad design choices in II that were improved in Sigma 2, but the overall combat is not as fun.
I agree with getting master collection, If that turns the person into a fan, then I recommend getting Ninja Gaiden II. It is indeed avaialble on Xbox Series consoles and also runs pretty well on them.
