Nah the Camera sucks massively, This is my first Ninja game, but the camera and control feel is damn awful.

it's very different from a lot of games played today. souls like and DmC have lock-on but part of the challenge when these games were made (more than 10-15 years ago) was not having that and operating both the sticks at the same time. that being said, i recommend setting 3rd person camera close to max and using the right bumper (R1) a lot to reset the camera the way YOUR CHARACHTER is facing, hope that helps a bit :steamhappy:

The camera in NG games is rough but its very difficult to improve upon it given the style of game. It's something you just have to become one with. They could impose a lock-on but that would screw with things too much as enemies move too quickly.

And if this was the original NG2, good luck panning a lock-on between a few dozen enemies without getting severe whiplash.

Camera basically ruins the game :( it is so bad on bosses and when you die it just feels cheap. Would have been so easy to have actually just put a lock on focus but yeah feels rough.
It needs either a wider FOV, an auto-chase perspective re-alignment option (those already provided in the options, do nada), or an isometric perspective option. The game feels like Nioh if its camera coding were done in the late 90s, and it really detracts from the experience for non-NG seasoned players.

This is legit the worst camera i have ever seen in a video game. It's like WTF WERE THEY THINKING?
^ It might have already been like that in the original games... Dunno. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Seasoned NG players got to where they are by dealing with it until it no longer affects them in any meaningful way. Nobody else is worse off.

Sorry but that is the most ridiculous thing i heard, they are selling this game for £39.99...... the camera needs to be fixed up.

The lack of autotracking is what allows you to fight multiple enemies at once, they could improve it a bit but locking and tracking risks reducing gameplay to modern slop.
Late into the game I was in a room with just the boss and the camera still disengaged its lock on multiple times, this sucks so bad
I have not struggled w it honestly and this is my second time playing NG, previously it was the original and I did not beat it some years ago.

I find that it helps a lot to turn off the camera assist in the control options to give yourself full manual control of it. You might wanna rebind your controls or claw grip so you can always keep your thumb on the right stick though.

Use X+A. Unlike the regular jump it targets the closest enemy which helps a lot in the absence of lock on.
The camera is what it is. It wont be fixed.
But...you can make it more tolerable by disabling all types of aim-assist on the menu.
