Is this game actually good by 2025 standards for the gameplay or is it just a 360 game with a fresh coat of paint
Has the gameplay been improved in any significant way or does it still feel like a 360 game. Is there a way to disable the button mashing QTEs that were there in the remaster.

Not sure what you're talking about, this gameplay is still peak. Certainly way better than most of the triple A slop we get nowadays. Fast paced and still some of the most satisfying finishers and combos in any video games period.

QTEs were in ng3. Its still the same game as sigma 2. The camera still sucks, movement is still clunky, tutorials are near useless bc by the time you find them you already figure all the stuff out yourself.
I'd buy this over every From Soft Game ever... This is actually fun and rewards you for developing skill. And its the type of combat system that is pure muscle memory, like I can not play it for 4 years and pick it up and be back up to speed in less than an hour.
The 360 game is still one of the best action games ever made. This one? Not quite. Good for 2025 standards? Well, the problem is that the controls aren't very responsive. A lot of inputs just aren't read. It's still a good game overall and I do love the graphical overhaul for most part, but in terms of gameplay and balance the 360 original still reigns supreme as the best version of NG2.

Are you implying modern games are superior to Xbox 360 era games? 2025 standards? Lol.

It's so much better than Elden Mid. It's not even funny.

It's a timeless game, honestly it's why I can't enjoy games like God of War 1-3, or even Devil May Cry 1-5 as much as I should. Games of this genre are still unable to hold a candle to NGB and NG2 in terms of responsive gameplay from character input and enemy reaction to hits.

Thats how I feel about Sifu. Despite being a gamer who was around during the 80s Ninja Gaiden and sequels, I never got into them but am looking to perhaps purchase this one. Is it a lot more difficult than games like sifu?

Never played SIfu, but you sold me on it.

It's a pretty difficult game, but there are easy difficulties. The better you get at the game mechanically, you will wan't to increase those. Certain weapons can make the game easier as well.

My viewpoint is that thare are different "schools" within action genre.

One is represented by Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and the likes. In those games focus is on doing stylish combos, using different things etc. etc. Those are more about "making an effect".

Now, there is also totally other thing. Which is most notably seen in Ninja Gaiden (though I'd also include Shinobi/Nightshade as well). In those games, its all about quick and tight disposal of enemies. So it's about "being efficient".

Granted, you can always try opposite in each, but that's how are view the genealogy of these games.

That being said, I totally agree about the feel that NG gives, in terms of combat. It's the most... elastic? combat in games I ever played. It just feels specially (even though I enjoy many other games too).

Gameplay does not feel old in my opinion.
It's a beat em all, slower than DMC or Bayonetta though.

But it currently has lots of performance issues.

Tried it out on Game Pass and it does feel pretty good so far
