So this remaster/remake does not have large enemy counts, certain bosses (OG and Sigma) some more I'm forgetting and no costume palette colors. If this was truly a remake, they could have emulated the OG game more with at the very least enemy counts, but right now it's just a shinier less optimized version of NG2:Sigma with certain small elements of the OG Ninja Gaiden 2.
And still no Red Muffler costume :(
gsdudeus, is it worth the purchase still?
Of course if you own the master collection and dont want to bother with emulation, and want close to the OG Ninja Gaiden experiences (The best versions minus Ninja Gaiden 3 OG) then you can install the black mod for MC Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma for blood, more enemies and gameplay modifications like delimb values.
If you feel that you could come back to this specific iteration over the MC version then yes. This version has everything that NG2:Sigma+ on MC has; chapter challenge, difficulties, trials and 4 characters to play as (4 only on trials still). The only differences really is graphics, mods and costumes. NG2:Black is very very pretty, but does not have an established base of mods to change gameplay (or enemy counts) and compared to NG2:Sigma+ much less costumes for every character. I do believe that modding for this game can be possible (at what scale I don't know), at least as much as the MC (and hopefully with less drama).
I would come back to this game basically because of looks (and after years of playing NG its a fresh coat of paint and much appreciated), though I still prefer the old graphics and the styling of it. Plus the MC version of NG2:Sigma+ has a gold healthbar unlock upon completion of Master Ninja and that's pretty cool. Imo worth a playthrough if you're a fan of NG, because its literally just the same game but prettier. and doesn't need mods to be closer to the original NG2.
lmao now you have so much to go through. Literally peak character action gaming. You also happened to miss out on the constant waiting for news on Ninja Gaiden, so I feel jealous in a way. Every time Team Ninja released a souls-ish game with stamina my heart died a little inside :(
you mean Nintendo Famicom one?
Yeah and I already have so many other good games to play, its like a xmas present every day for me this year lol
