Is this game anything like Nioh or Souls-like?

It's nothing like a Souls game. This game is an action game with a lot of things happening and you can die in an instant. In my opinion NG is way harder than any Souls game.

if you enjoy a good challenge such as nioh, then i 100% recommend. as commenter above says, its nothing like a souls game, its more similar to games like bayo and dmc except each encounter is a fight for survival.

This game (the original) was one of the only games that made me rage quit the entire game. It is that hard, but still a good game.

Absolutely the right answer.

To address OP: it is more like Nioh in a sense. Nioh was build on the bones of Ninja Gaiden, but expanded to be more like the popular Souls games.

Before we had souls game, we had this. If you like the challenge of souls game, of learning boss mechanics and having to execute correctly, and learning enemy patterns - you'll like this. But just remember this is souls' "knowledge = power" game design on crack because you need to know how to deal with mechanics, while also having fast reflexes/good execution.

GAMEPLAY wise it can never touch a candle to Nioh 2. Nioh 2 is PEAK action gameplay. BUT if you love ninja gaiden you will love nioh 2 and vice versa. Gonna play this on gamepass

No. Nioh is good but the OG Ninja Gaiden games are a completely different beast which no other game has been able to recreate or live up to.

this was souls before souls espescially for us xbox kids who didnt have demon souls. Ninja gaiden has souls like bosses but Ryu is much more athletic than any character in a souls game. its similar to DMC but more fast paced
