THAT Hard To Port Actual NG2?
Seriously, you'd think it would be simple to just port over the original game/keep the original gameplay difficulty intact.

But apparently it takes 3 different ports (2 Sigma, Sigma Plus, 2 Black), and none of them are the actual NG2.

Its not.

Its still using Sigma as a template for the enemy count.
according to the devs the lost the original codes. some other person made a thread and posted a link to interview.

ok then its a mix, you have the enemy count from sigma, you have the gore and blood back from the 360 version.

They lost the original source code.

"Lost the source code" is one thing (ignoring the fact that games dont need their source code to be rebuilt. Just look at Kingdom Hearts and its "lost source code" or some Bluepoint remasters). Its possible to use the actual game disc and go from there.

But they literally remade the game, and STILL didnt implement the actual original enemy amount.

I don't get the whole drama from the people here. They never advertised this version with "This is the original version from the Xbox 360 with new graphics".

Black 2 looks and plays simply amazing. The OG 360 version really struggled in many parts of the game to keep an intact framerate. This new version brings back, at least in my opinion, the best aspects from every version. The looks and esthetics and also blood/gore effects from the 360 version. And also lot's of improvements Sigma 2 offered including the additional playable characters. No, this is not Sigma 2 all over again but something between a new version, a Remaster and an actual Remake. I played every version released of this game except the Master Collection version (I played the horrible Vita Port) and think Black 2 is the most balanced and well upgraded of the available versions. No one will steal the 360 version out of your hands. Enjoy it with an emulator these days.

Also, screw these exploding Kunais from the original version.

i agree with you. its not like the actual game doesnt exist. they can just go back play it and try to replicate as much as possible.
also the missing weapons in this version, missing mission mode, no test of valor
i was hyped this morning but as more and more news and gameplays are surfacing starting to change my mind about purchasing this.

I have no idea about the kingdom hearts games, but Bluepoint remasters (Dark Souls, SoTC PS4) were using the original source codes to improve the games.

This was not remade from scratch. They built this using the source code of Sigma 2. There is a reason why the dev said this is remaster, and not a remake.

Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Collections, Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition (fan made even).

All had lost source code. So yeah, "we lost the source code" isnt an excuse unless they were just unwilling to rebuild the game using the disc. Takes more time to do, but is very doable.

But i guess using Sigma as a base was just cheaper, and they didnt want to bother.

I doubt that using Sigma as a base was any cheaper; all of the game logic would have to be completely rebuilt to be in UE5 anyways. This is a pure pride/spite thing; they're unwilling to admit that the vision of the guy they fired (Itagaki) is a lot better than the vision of the guy who is directing most of their games nowadays (Hayashi), and thus are going to base it on Hayashi's version just to petulantly say "NO, HAYASHI IS BETTER THAN ITAGAKI!", fan desires be damned.
I really don't like how the devs are advertising this as if it was the OG NG2, its not, and it will never be, the original developers claim to have lost the code...thanks Itagaki... So you will never really have the definitive edition of NG2 despite what the devs claim or the ads show. Still kinda pisses me off.

Yeah the "they lost the source code" argument makes zero sense for a remake. It sounds like some dumbass excuse they're making because they don't want to say the actual reason. I was wondering what that reason could be, and I think you hit the nail on the head. It's just some dumbass pride thing and nothing more.

Pretty much. At this point the source code thing is nothing more than an excuse. They remade the entire game and surely they could've made it more like the original.
