Has anyone been able to counter grabs?
Ive seen videos, few, which means its possible, where someone counters a grab. The timing looks strick, but lossible. Id like more examples so I can find the correct timing.

Most can't be countered.

Only some can be countered and Ryu's back needs to be turned towards the grabbing enemy, the timing isn't really strict but can be confusing due to their slow startups

I did not realize I had to be facing away. Worked like a charm for the enemies that do a front flip.

Wait, what counter are we talking about? You can just mash the control stick to break grabs that are from behind Ryu. That's because the grabs from the front have to be counterattacked like a heavy attack which works differently from regular light attacks. With regular enemy attacks you can hit the light or heavy attack button slightly after blocking to do a counterattack but for the heavy moves that break Ryu's guard they have to be countered right before they connect. The same thing can be done for grabs, but like with the heavy attacks the timing is really difficult.

Oh, NVM. The information in my previous post only works in the OG NGII. In Sigma 2 and Black strong attacks and grabs connot be countered! So, the only option to avoid frontal grabs in this version is to simply not be there when they do. :(
