Harder than dark souls?
I've done most of the souls games and even every boss in wukong. I remember how hard sigma 1 was. Is Ninja Gaiden 2 a different ball game? ty

Not comparable. Completely different kinds of game. Souls are a cakewalk, NG will test your patience on master
It's hard to compare to Dark Souls (it's really not the same kind of game).
However, I find this game significantly easier than Sigma-- especially on normal difficulty.
I am playing in normal and it's easy.

Because you're playing on normal.

I should have started at a higher difficulty than normal but I'm having fun regardless. On normal, I wouldn't consider this game difficult. Event though they are different games, since the post is asking about different games, id note that id die often in black myth wukong, elden ring, sifu (a good comparison game) and sekiro. I'm close to chapter 4 I think and didnt die before I stopped playing.

With that said, again, its very fun and I can easily see how the difficulty will ramp up. I don't necessarily love games that are super difficult with no adjustments allowed. This is playing more like a devil may cry to me currently with the game being very accessible but highly configurable.

I started on hard and I'm chapter 3 now. I can see the enemy aggression. I can only complain about the off screen attacks and enemy grabs so far.

Starting in normal mode is pretty optimal in Ninja Gaiden imo. Climb higher difficulties one by one. This way you learn the basics and advanced stuff along the way which are essential for higher difficulties. You also know which weapon or attack works better on different enemies resulting in increasing your expertise on different weapons and building your muscle memory along the way.
Just a tip. Don't stick to the far edges of the map/screen all the time or you will get camera issues. Also watch some youtube tutorial videos to know the advanced stuff that the game doesnt show you like shuriken cancelling, i-frame moves and knowing how to do instant ultimate techniques.

No thanks, I take stray hits here and there and I can imagine them doing 5x damage.
Depends on your definition of hard. The game is very challenging so if that's what you're looking for, then I'd recommend. :btd6thumbsup:
I'd say Dark Souls is probably around the level of hard difficulty in Ninja Gaiden, while Ninja Gaiden's Very Hard and Master Ninja difficulties are harder than Dark Souls. Though like the other guy said hard to compare they're different games, NG gets harder as you up the difficulty while DS is more a game that starts hard but gets easier as you level up and get good gear.
You can't judge a game based on its highest difficulty, but its normal difficulty. Otherwise many games should be considered way harder than they are.

Dark Souls is harder than NG for sure, it's hard by design. NG have more difficult modes, but that's not design, it's handicap.
In NG2B Path of the Warrior which is Hard difficulty, used to be Normal difficulty in the original NG2. This is the difficulty I feel NG2 is designed to be played at, not too easy, not too hard, and it's around the difficulty I feel Dark Souls is.

You kinda can... take star wars jedi fallen order as an example. There's a difficulty option there, yes... but if you play it on anything else but the hardest difficulty, you're missing how good the combat really is. It goes from a really good game to a boring brainless button masher.
