They have just changed the monetization for this map. If you want to play it F2P:
- You won't be able to create or maintain a guild
- You won't be able to swap skill profiles
- You won't have death insurance
- You can only level up 1 skill at a time (rather than 2 for Premium players)
- You will have to pay upkeep maintenance on your greenzone claim, if you have one
Otherwise, you have to pay monthly for a Premium subscription again. This sub must be paid by at least 5 members of a guild every month or the guild collapses.
You get 2 characters and only 1 greenzone claim per account (300 tiles).
Personal note: The new map is currently in closed beta testing and its pretty awful right now, to be honest. Looks terrible and LOTS of bugs. Only about 450 players testing it out at any point and its still crashing, so theres a long way to go with it.
Another mechanic I'm curious about in this full PVP game, is the love for the gates still a thing? Like u get out u hit someone 2 times and run back where u are 100% safe if is not JH on?
They still ban peps if they try to jump inside claims when is not JH?
Or mechanics are still same, once your walls are done your pvp will be nonsense role play?
I'm sure they'll try again a map with one wipe per year or some other imbecility although the game starts to die after a few weeks (it certainly doesn't attract their attention that)...
In the current CBT format you are not able to create a clan and make a claim unless you have at least 5 subbed players with two characters each total of 10 players just to create a clan and build a monument tier one claim.
If any of those subbed players leaves your clan or stops paying the sub your clan and claim will disappear.
This is going to drive so many players away and they will struggle to keep only the 200 hard core players and will drive any new players away
Guilds as a Service (GaaS?) is an interesting spin on the live service model. Criticism aside, has this been done before or have LTG produced their first original idea?
Here's the official news from the Discord:
"@here Feudals,
We are very grateful for your support and all the feedback that you have given us throughout the CBT. We would not be able to test the game in real conditions without active participation from the community.
With that in mind, we know that many of you are eagerly waiting for the news on the CBT state and the dates of OBT of Life is Feudal: Arden. We are happy to announce that we are ready to sate your curiosity and lay down the upcoming steps for the near future:
- CBT (Closed Beta Testing) will officially end on the 25th of January, 2025.
- OBT (Open Beta Testing) will be launched on the 30th of January, 2025.
- Players who have purchased one of the Early Access packs get an exclusive early entry into the world of Arden two days earlier, beginning January 28th, 2025, through the LTG launcher.
One of the key differences between OBT and CBT will be the updated Green Zones! The 6x4 areas, featuring hand-crafted terrains, will be fully separated from the updated 7x7 Red Zones for the upcoming stage.
As we progress through the OBT, certain features and mechanics may be disabled for adjustments and then re-enabled after improvements to ensure a more stable and balanced gameplay experience.
We understand that there have been concerns regarding the current state of the build. The final technical maintenance is underway and the fixes for the issues that have caused frustration within the community will be implemented in the OBT patch. We believe this patch will address most of the troublesome issues, along with other improvements that you will be able to read about in the patch notes."
"concerns regarding the current state of the build" is a pretty big understatement. Just the other day someone found an exploit that lets people one-shot everyone in PvP and then a load of players started using it. Its going to be interesting to watch this train wreck unfold.
We understand the concerns and feedback about Life is Feudal: Arden. The main goal is to bring new life to the franchise by introducing updated mechanics, a new world, and more engaging features for all players. You can explore all the changes on our discord channel: https://discord.gg/2JTWwkEd. A premium subscription will be available in the game, but only if you choose to have it. This system ensures that players can enjoy the game without needing to make any payments, while also offering additional content for those who want to further enrich their experience.
We’ve taken player feedback seriously and are continuing to work on improving the game with every update. There may be growing pains, but we’re committed to creating a better experience for everyone involved, both new and returning players.
Really though, thats an awful concept, the sheer existance of your guild shouldnt have to be based on how many people pay cash.
