Redline 1.1 Patch (HERE)
I own the CD version of the game from way back in the day.

Here are the 1.1 files that you need to place into your Redline folder.

All of the version 1.1 features and fixes are included in this version of Redline. The only reason you see a "1.0" is because the 1.1 patch didn't change the version number in the main menu.

This steam version is already patched because if you go to multiplayer the 1.1 maps are available

Changes and fixes:
- 4 new multiplayer deathmatch arenas: Deathdome, Denizone, Octotron, Toxicorp Outpost
- 1 new multiplayer CTF arena: Slaughterhouse CTF
- Increased multiplayer Client and Server stability
- Fix for compatability issues on newer Gateway machines
- Fixes other minor installer and hardware related issues

Why doesn´t Valve implement the fix in the updates?

Is this working? When I run redline_update.exe I get an error: "Cannot locate Redline on your computer".

Save the following to a text file and rename the extension from .txt to .reg

Modify the install directory.

Theory is that the patch looks at the add/remove path. If it isnt listed there it doesnt know about it and can't patch the game.

Reboot your computer after running the registry file.

So basically replace
D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Accolade\\Redline\\
with your installation location.

*******\Steam\SteamApps\common\Redline

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Redline] "DisplayName"="Redline" "InstallLocation"="D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Accolade\\Redline" "InstallSource"="V:\\SETUP\\" "Publisher"="Accolade" "StartMenuFolder"="C:\\ProgramData\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Redline" "UninstallString"="C:\\Windows\\IsUninst.exe -f\"D:\\Program Files (x86)/Accolade/Redline/Uninst.isu/" -c\"D:\\Program Files (x86)/Accolade/Redline/Uninst.dll/""

That works, but a file compare of the patched installation folder shows that it doesn't really add anything relevant. The patch added 00000409.256 (a BMP format splash screen) along with the usual files for the retail version's SafeDisc copy protection (clcd16.dll, clcd32.dll, clokspl.exe, dplayerx.dll, drvmgt.dll, secdrv.sys).

Patching over an actual retail installation may get a different result, but Fallen is probably right that this is as simple as the game's stated version number not being changed in the patch.
