Wood fence vs. stone wall
Wood fence costs 1 wood. Stone wall costs 2 rocks. Is there any advantage of the stone wall over the wood fence?

Pretty easy to notice by clicking on each of them is, that the stone wall has 200hp while the wood fence only has 100hp. Im not sure about if monsters respond differntly to them when choosing their way in your village.

But monsters only attack them if they can't find a way into your base, so hp should be moot, right?

Currently, not much. The stone wall does have slightly more HP, so it'll resist damage a bit once it's attacked. But in the end, the difference is mostly trivial. By the time your walls are being attacked, the additional HP won't buy you much time. In the future though, each wall type will serve different purposes. :)

Thanks

So, I just had a defense set up with a small maze, and the specters were skipping the walls and going after my towers, which was expected... but then one piece of wall broke somehow, and all the enemies flooded my towers. What might have caused that wall to break?

If your maze gets too long or congested, monsters will start becoming more and more likely to attack the walls. It's likely that one section was attacked by the monsters, taken down, and made a nice, new, short path for everyone else to flood in at.

To avoid this, simply make your mazes shorter, or wider so there's more space. You can also double-up the wall thickness on your perimeter as well.

Do you mean building on top of things? Nope.

i am happy to hear this. i was hoping for more uses for wood walls and I have wondered why even build wood walls. but then again, as others have stated you can build your maze in such a way that monsters will not attack your walls so lower HP doesn't matter mcuh and you can build a cheaper maze of wood that builds fast as well. but it is now no longer fire proof...
