The whole thing is massively unbalanced.
They send waves of combatants, and we have no equivalent.
After trying this game over and over again, I realized it's just a complete waste of time trying to beat the corruption.
Yes, it's about the journey and not the destination, but what's a journey that's going nowhere?
I agree clearly offensive options should be available at some point, like some spell to temporarily uncorrupt an area and/or commands to go attack buildings and enemies inside the corruption
The game already has summonable golems via spells. If they were easier to control and "micro" that would do almost exactly what B&W2 had.
1) Amass golems
2) Slowly encroach your territory on the corruption with campfires
3) Once enemy buildings / enemies are within your territory, your golems will eliminate them
4) Rinse & repeat until the corruption is eliminated (if you can manage that!)
16 Golems? You'll need far more than that to attempt an offensive, not to mention a maze totally encompassed by lots of recombobulation towers to heal up when they return to the village. I've attached a SS from before the most recent update showing you approximately the setup that allowed me to adopt this strategy. Even then, I was hard-pressed to maintain the front, and was overrun after overly-ambitious expansion efforts (and the update). The big dip you can see in the golem population is what caused me to lose - I expanded too far and didn't notice in time that they were dying outside the village. The only path to success was in not allowing them to die in the first place by ensuring they fight within recombobulation range at all times. Cheers!

Using this strategy, it is relatively easy to wipe out the corruption on survival mode.
