Correct, curtain walls, as well as trees and rock, block specters.
If it works how I think, even the basic fire/ice/lightning damage is around 3 times more damage than the golems were doing before.
Spectres are 60% resistant to crushing, so non crystal base golems only do 0.4x damage to them. They are 30% vulnerable to fire/ice/lightning so upgraded (ignorning poison) golems would do 1.3x damage to them, so 3.25x as much
Crystal golems might actually do less damage to them if you upgrade them fully. 75% vuln to magic v 50% vuln to magic fire/ice/lightning.
As for crystal golems, it depends on if they also keep some straight magic damage in addition to the magic (element) damage, and how much of each. In the case of elemental bolt towers, that final upgrade results in them doing the same damage to specters, but potentially more or less to other targets, with tweaked target priorities, since towers are supposed to prioritize targets they do the most damage to.
How about fire pits? Do they make spectre-holes in a crystal wall?
So glad I trusted the tooltip and "Built them into my walls".
Since it appears build area can't propagate through walls, you have to line your maze with fire pits to be able to maintain your outer wall
Now I need to rebuild it with wider lanes to allow room for fire pits _in_ the walkable area...
