Water, how does it work?

I have all the water buildings, but I have no idea what;s actually going off, or why despite having so many buildings and people dedicated to water (more than I have farmers) I can barely keep up with needs.

I need a tutorial on water, the mechanics of it mystify me.

you need to assign workers to it.

One type gets water from sources(purifier iirc)

Then you have 2 other types (wells / Water catchers).

If you use a purifier make sure you selected a area they an get water from(sea/lake).

Also make sure to make a bottler, so your people can carry it around with them

Yeah, done all that, still makes no sense to me, I look at the numbers in the various buildings and they are pretty much always zero. The purifers all have zero dirty water and zero water, I never see those alter, ever, is being right next to a lake not close enough?

OK, I just spent nearly an hour watching 3 water purifiers, and they do nothing, nothing at all, no workers visit them, no water is collected, nothing is purified, they are totally useless buildings.

You forgot to tell the workers to harvest water then. You have to tell them where to fetch dirty water from in order for the building to work.

not had the problem build it near water set watermasters up from 0/3 to 3/3 and it should work you also need to HARVEST the Water the same as with food on the map( key binds 3 i think)

Same way you harvest food. Look at the bottom right corner of the UI.

Assign which water tiles are harvestable for the people to go with their buckets to process. In the winter time that water might freeze, so try to find an alternative large body that you can mark harvestable too. The harvest buttom for wood is in the lower left corner, and next to that crystal and next to that is food/water IIRC.

I've gotten by okay using only water purifiers.

Yeah, I totally missed that the harvest food button is the same as harvest water for ages too and I'd been wondering why no water was being purified, haha!
