BUG Carn Dum
if you experience repeated crashes inside the rusty caves of Carn Dum, the only to succeed is to set all your graphics settings to Minimum/desactivated until you can manage to exit the caves.
Andriel character was a good choice for me to succeed to escape the crashes... don't know if it really matters

I have the same problem and i am not sure why, but worked for me almost perfectly, was to just keep facing the wall the stairs lead up to *when heading to get the first switch* and sticking close to the wall until you reach the other side of the room then you can go and get the switch usually without crashing. Best to lure the Orc that comes through the gate with ranged and kill up there, then work your way back down to the main floor the same way you got up. In this next room it has similar issue, but this time stay facing to the right *after passing through the gate* there is a chest to the left so try and work your way there since you wont easily see it when trying to not crash. Do not forget the chest you see in the crazy orcs cages, that opens up when you flip the first switch, sometimes crash when you go back for it so careful.

After those two rooms i didn't crash at all, so for the most part you can walk in the open after that, but if you crash in another part, try staying to the edges, and staring at walls again.

Hope this helps : )

As of 18 Nov 2013 this bug is still in the game.
Got this game in a Humble Bundle and had the same issues with random crashes, the worst was in Carn Dum kept crashing making it impossible to get any further.
I stuck all settings on off or min in video turned off gore and subtitles as well as the hit meter. Then i followed the above mentioned path but still had crashes, so what i did was use the Bow of the ranger and zoom in and slowly made my way from save point to save point, took some time but i made it.

Once you get to the outside which is not really to far after the second lever i ran around with no crashes

Hope this helps

Well, this thing with zoom worked, but is ridiculous have to do this, then when i saw the save symbol i quit, and crashed on loading screen... what the hell, why don't have a patch to fix this ♥♥♥♥?

I agree there should be a patch for such an obvious problem area. The rooms in this chapter are simply not optimized. The easiest way to patch it would be to get rid of all the electrical lighting effects. It's giving Snowblind and WB a bad rep. I won't buy another Warner Brothers product (Batman Origins) because of this obvious abandonment of customer support.

Windows 7, 64-bit users - Download the best version of your graphics cards here; you can use the "auto detect" feature if you do not know your type of card. Worked for me, and hope for you guys too!

I've finished the game, but inside Carn Dum, the game is slow and a little jumpy (I keep running into the walls)

Wow, I can't believe how old and prevalent this bug is. Shameful support! It's really pathetic that I am using the 'Alt-aim-at-floor' hack to try and work around it - and that I actually know exactly where to turn just from looking at the floor because I've tried it 40x now. A couple more tries before I write this game off for good...
September 2015. Laggy as hell still. I got through the first time and finished the game, but now I am going again on Hero. I am gonna try that Ranger zoomed bow.

I also noticed that you can kill the creepy looking monsters/men while they are still caged. Perhaps this is good to do before you pull the lever. Less monsters to fight when the cages open

Its too bad this part of the game is so buggy, because I really enjoyed the game up until this part. Good Luck.
Just did it on Heroic.
I had my bow out like suggested by a poster on here, it worked a lot better, but still had few problems. We had to move slowly. Becaue of the fact that if we triggered the lever, we'd have to fight many of those creepy men. So....

What we did was we killed all of the Creepy men that were in their cages. This will help A LOT when you pull the lever. There are a few more creepy men to kill when you do, but you won't be surrounded and the lag won't be so bad. As ranger just shoot from afar. BUT SHOOT THE GUARD that comes out of the gate right away. I had my power shot and took him out before he even reached us.

YOu have to take this slow. When everything is clear, make your way to the open gate and have your bow out. Take it slow. Once you pass the gate, the lag seems to wane off quite a bit after.

There is still some lag at the next stage, but it's bearable and not like what you just went through.

Hello,

Win 10 x64 , full install, after upgrading, and formated, tryed with catalyst 15.7, 15.7.1, 15.8 15.9, 15.9.1,

I tryed the walking while zooming looking at the ground method, the lighting sparks make the game not responding even on low setting and resolution.

It was same on win 7 sp3 x64, but there was a fix for amd user: download a specific old graphic driver.

I updated the legacy and new physx driver anyway.
If 5 drivers from amd in win 10 arenot working, and same for windows 7, with updated softwares, drivers,

It mean either i have a serious problem with my computer softwar and hardware setup, or either Carn Dum need a fix.

Other areas load fine without crash.

I5 4670k, tryed hd 5570 and hd 7870 oc from sapphire, z87-plus motherboard and 2x2 gb xms 3 cas 8 @ 1600mhz ddr3.

SSHD 2 TB.

But i don't care, it may happen a game is not working, i'm just angry about windows 10 , it's not a good os actually for gamming.
It need fix.

Strange thing is games from 2004-2002 are working better on 10 than games made for vista or 7.

Troll off,
I will try to find someone, i can borrow a nvidia card, and hope i can paste carn Dum :)

Win 10 has nothing to do with this bug. It's a graphics bug (primarily with AMD cards, apparently) that they never fixed. Only real way to avoid it is to install an old version of AMD Catalyst if your card allows it. Other than that all you can do is to slowly inch through that place by zooming into a wall so that the graphics card doesn't have to render the bugged area. I myself gave up on this piece of ♥♥♥♥ game.

I have an AMD R9 380 and don't have the patience anymore to go through more bugged areas.

Try to turn off Ambient Occlusion, worked for us.
Adelin Jan 8, 2016 @ 9:46pm
I tryed with new ram (16gb gskill kit @2400)
New psu: evga 850w G2
New hard drive: SSHD seageate 1 TB

I had to replace the power suply that died anyway, and hard drive that was failing.

I did test again with:

Tryed a HD 5570, hd 7870, Intel hd 4600 intel using the vga output latest hd graphic driver, and 1GB System ram used for the igp.

All those test failed with this game.

I won't buy a new cpu to try or motherboard, cause i don't crash with games like assassin creeds unity for session without restarting the game lasting 8 to 9 hours, on High/ultra graphics, without aa.

I will try again Carn Dum, while zooming at ground and not looking at monsters.
And on lowest settings.

I have the latest Crimson radeon driver. Windows 10 x64 updated...

I hope i can continue this game, i really like it.

I will wait one year, to see if i can play again with future graphic driver, if not i will never play this game again :(

Ok it worked after a third try, looking to the ground with a staff help a lot to reduce the sort of stuttering, then freeze.

I could press E and open the doors, now it's difficult to win fight, just looking at the ground, maybe trying to reivive teammates, is the only things that will work, but at last i could save the progress here :)
