Game crashed and lost save game

So i'm about 10 hours into the game (in the Ettenmors level) and the game freezes. I Alt-Tab back to Windows and i see the game crash and close.

After relaunching the game all my progress seems lost. I get the "New Game" by default and hitting "Select Game" and then "Load Game" yields a message saying no saved games are found.

Any ideas on how to recover ? I've browsed the stem folder but am unable to find anything meaningul save for a crash dump file.

The only "out-of-the ordinary" thing is that i started playing the game via steam family share before purchansing for myself, a couple of days ago.

i bought it today. But i wouldn´t bought it if knew that is has save problems like these. What are your hardware specs?

Well, i have a i7-930@4.0Ghz + 12Gb RAM + GTX 670.

It's good enough that the graphics card doesn't brake a sweat to keep the game at 60 fps at all times :)

Anyway, the game is nice... just keep manually saving/backing up the save file as you play regularly and you should be safe.

Although, by browsing this forum there seem to be other show stopper and serious bugs. Again, having several backups of your save file may minimize the chance of trouble.

I'm bumping this thread because it's very relevant. This just happened to me. I was at the area after the Ettermoors and... All of my progress is gone. Is that it? It's gone? No steam-cloud saving? If so, I'm dropping this game. It was pretty god but... Yeah. I'm done with it if that's the case.
