Darklands

Omg... is this the game from my childhood? Any other games like this?
I always wanted to remember a game with a specific battle system. It had pixel units fighting on the field, multiple ones that you could control. I don't quite know if this is the game I played as a kid in the 90's. But one thing is for sure I am interested in this game. Does anyone know any other games with the same battle system like this?

EDIT: Btw I played the game on the SNES I believe.

Darklands was never on a console. I don't pretend to have a comprehensive knowledge of the SNES library, but one game that jumps into my mind is Gemfire. Any chanse that's what you're thinking of?

I checked that game out, but no. It is not gemfire. I strictly remember the art style as simple sort of stick men that duked it out over fields in real time.

Hmm. Mega Lo Mania? Powermonger? Populous? That's about all I've got. Sorry.

Darklands was and still is one still unsurpassed in its coverage of the superstisions and lore of medieval europe, with a battle system similar to the original gauntlet, and the use of historically correct arms and armoury as well as alchemical magic and saints, all of which had been heavily researched by the development team. I've still got the original manual that came with the boxed version. it's heavily dogeared as I used it extensively during my hundreds of hours of game play. I still have the large map as well. when i first purchased this game when it was originally released it almost filled my hard drive, as back then hard drives were measured in megabytes not giga and tera bytes. :)

As for what the game you are looking for could be.......

no, my game wasn't a turn based strategy, it was a real time game. all of those games I know and have played. it was medieval real time with pixelated kind of sticks for men, with their respective colors displaying who they fought for/where they were from. itw as cool as ♥♥♥♥.
