you just blow the enemys away before they can shot once....
2- Railgun
3- Plasmacaster? The T2 one which you can charge, that is.
Shredders with high accuracy are surprisingly good sniper weapons too.
Haven't tried the arcthrower yet.
I love the Gauss Cannon for its robust simplicity. Arcpulse is pretty strong without feeling entirely broken (mainly because the plasma cost is very high). Sniper-type weapons like the Impact Rifle and Railgun are pretty fun too. And the versatility of the Plasmacaster makes it a really great mid-game weapon.
There something I'm missing about the arcthrower? I tried to use it for a couple minutes and felt like it was the worst weapon in the game (along with the other "melee" weapons, flamethrower + welder). Mediocre damage with incredibly short range - high risk, low reward. Almost certain the Gauss Cannon has higher DPS without the range restriction.
You are talking about welder, I think. Or flamethrower. What I meant was "Arcpulse", though flamethrower also has insane damage output. Arcpulse can clear a room with like 10 shots.
Also, from my experience, it seemed like almost every other T1 weapon outclasses the flamethrower in terms of damage output. Hate it.
T2 - Gotta get me some Flak Cannon goodness, although Railgun and Plasmacaster are definately great picks.
T3 - Well, I'm still unlocking these, but old-faithful Gauss Cannon has seen me through my runs so far (including completely turning around my bullet-only run). My opinion of Ion Beam would probably be better if I made one with more than 80 acc :p Not managed to make anything else yet.
Missiles - Never really bother with anything beyond Homing Swarmers and Grenades for room-clearing power. Magclusters are nice, but are expensive and take away my precious swarmers.
Flamethrower has real high DPS. But any other melee weapon is not worth it imo, FT has moderate range at least which makes it useful, but welder and others... bot explosions deal much more damage than what they normally hit for, so no thanks. Too risky. But yeah, as I've said, FT has a real good range on it.
Yeah I usually take Gung Ho when possible now. Even though it gives less armor it makes melee more viable if you don't get hit. Hell I like it just cause it makes you immune to those suicide orbs.
When I say melee, I mean close range, not ramming.
T1
- Pulsar: Solid medium range weapon and you start with one.
- Shredder: Only if I'm going for the no crafting achievement otherwise it quickly gets crafted into the...
T2
- Spreadpulse: Good damage and fire rate, very ammo efficient.
- Railgun: Long range, can kill some of the annoying enemies in one shot, and it pierces.
T3
Only have made 2 of these so far Gauss Cannon and Arcpulse.
- Gauss Cannon: Ammo efficient (especially compared to other bullet weapons) and it works at long ranges.
Missles
T1
- Grenade: For the bounce.
- Homing Missile: If I haven't found a Grenade and/or can't craft it into the Swarmer
T2
- Swarmer for the "just shoot" moments.
T3 Why?
Overall I like the spread pulse because it is relavent over the whole game. (If i remeber right it's one of the parts for the arcpulse)
Next up any Sniper weapon probably Impact > Rail > Plasmacaster (my reasonin here is that both impact and railgun can one shot most enemies (peek shoot peek shoot makes the game really easy) impact having much more ammo (at least for me it always appears like that)) (so many brakets o.O)
Then the "sniper" shotgun weapon Flak cannon.
T1 Starter definetly Pulse
And not to forget, my favorite for destroying cores the Ion Laser (horrible for anything else imho) together with the mag rockets even end the last level core really fast.
Hull I always aim for the strafer and leave it there.
Rockets: as i mentioned Mag if i have enoigh nanites otherwise HVRL and any AoE missile i can pick up.
Enigines: Havent found a reason to upgrade these yet.
On a sidenote, Haven't really found any of the close range weapons convincing, sure they are fun to use but they always feel weaker then their long range counterparts.
Imho stay aways from Smartgun. The idea is nice but the ammo to dammage ratio is really bad and the dps isnt overwhelming either. Have yet to use the transpulse.
