Having issues finding hardstone

So I'm having issues finding hardstone. I built a raft with stuff from the chest, but I cannot find hardstone as of now. I have visited 3 islands as of this post.

EDIT: This post was made several updates ago and stuff may have changed regarding hardstone since then.

i'm searching for an hour now and can't finde hardstones.

Look for rocks with green cracks. They are kind of rare, but you might just be getting extra unlucky.

Is there a way to mine it without a pickaxe? The issue is I need a pickaxe but it requires 1 hardstone to craft.

Yes, you can break them with a club.

I found many moonstones, enough to make a good sword and even found a stray pick before I ever found my first hard rock. Seems like they are a little too rare to me considering they're used in consumables and you need one for a pick or you can't advance in the game.

Yeah, and by 3 islands I meant the starting island and 2 other islands. I Honestly think it is a bit rare.

"a bit rare" - I am playing for hours now and mined arround 30 rich stones... guess what -> not a single hardrock -.-
is it me or is there something going wrong?
edit: or is "hardstone ore" the same as "hardstone"?

I just wanna say right now, that something may have changed since this thread was created so hardstone may have changed in its spawning mechanics

I found them in Weak boulders ?

They can be found in a lot of places. I seem to only find the rare diamond in the weak boulders. Probably because the rich boulders are impossible to find.

Hello, I am building the maiden and there is a long stream of islands i'm searching for supplies, I have all the supplies now but hard stone, there so rare, probally more rare than moon stone.
Please oh please turn down how rare the hard stone is, It should be acleast 2 on every island
