A different game.
Wow, what? If you don't like Salt, don't play it anymore. No need to keep going like this.
for normal responders:
it looks like that "sea of thieves" will be game very similar to salt (sailing, quite similar graphics, islands, exploration and pirates) but with more options as treasures, underwater life, monsters, ship combat and multiplayer).
what do you think? is there any way for "salt" to win this competition or at least to be at the same level of buyers interest?
No need to be insulting. You asked an obvious question. I answered it.
That being said, I am done with this thread and you. I don't tolerate froward people and that includes you.
So all I can compare is Salt, a game on steam, to an unknown game. When this other game you talk about shows up on steam then I will have an opinion.
A static map can be extremely detailed, but it's drawback is that it's never different. The elder Scrolls games offset this by adding random loot and random encounters. But it's still the same map every time and can become stale and boring over time. Not much replay ability there.
An infinite random procedurally generated map cannot be too detailed, by the nature of how it works. But you can have a different experience with every game.
For me, eye candy is nice, but I rather enjoy new experiences over the same old thing every single time.
Salt is a beautiful game with a day/night cycle that you can go into at any time and while away some hours just to relax, look at the pretty scenery and find different types of islands, NPCs, loot and solo adventures.
Sea of Thieves looks like a fun game if you have friends to play with you online. It appears to have eye candy, but it seems to be only multiplayer oriented and faster-paced. Also it's announced for Windows 10 and console (Xbone?). I have Windows 7 and ain't changing right now.
Therefore the two games may have the sea in common, but otherwise are as different as chalk and cheese.
HTH :D
