I have heard a few users talking about third party hacks or trainers that they said allowed such editing, it was never made clear if these worked dynamically as the game was running, or statically on the data stored in the registry. I would caution that anyone attempting to use such tools have dependable anti-virus software installed and to do a complete backup of the game data and executables first.
As mentioned by Bael above, the cheat engine can be used to increase the number of items you do have.
Search for the thread title "Poking the Registry", WillieSea did most of the work, I added a few more. Note that these values aren't up to date with a lot of the new content.
Lol. Cheat away nooblet
you can also get 5 or so of an item and craft things to change the amount in the stack.
Those are cheats aswell.
Cheats in singleplayer games ever were an integral part to the experience. Quite every game in the early days had cheatcodes implemented by the developers themselves.
Today thats not nessecary as its possible to change the experience with using mods and mutators.
I cant see why he shouldnt use cheats for this game to enhance his experience with the game.
