Explain Controller Functions Please

The game doesn't come with directions at all. I am using an X-box controller, and have no idea what is going on?

Can someone explain the controller to me please?

spacbar (keyboard) = jump
enter (keyboard) = write text

A button = swing but doesn't hit?
left joystick = movement
