Welcome to the Ironcast discussion page
Welcome all!

I hope you are enjoying the game so far. If you've not played Ironcast, why not watch a few "Let's play" videos to see if it's up your street. I can't imagine that any of you will be disappointed.

We'd like to ask those of you who are posting awesome screenshots to hold off from spoiling the latter part of the game... at least for a few days, anyway. :)

If you'd like to keep up to date on all things Ironcast related, follow the developer, Dreadbit, on Twitter @DreadbitGames.

You can also follow our wonderful publisher @RipstoneGames.

Finally, thank you to all who purchased Ironcast and thus supported us. You people are the BEST.
We hope to see you on the battlefield, Commanders.

Daniel and the development team.

Extremely fun and addictive game so far, good work guys! :) However this game isn't exactly Noob friendly and is going to alienate alot of casual players with amount of deaths involved despite what unlocks you can get via your global progress you currently have at the time of your current run/play through. I have no problem with this game since i've played games like X-COM : EU and FTL but the casual player could be potentially put off with the difficulty / randomness involved with the game - how about some novice difficulty levels to be added for next update? Say Normal / Hard - this way you can keep those novice players while not alienating the so called "pro-gamer" crowd??

You cannot make a roguelite game worth playing so noob-friendly that absolutely everyone can beat it. Ironcast is the best example; even with an unlock system that stacks on stat boost after stat boost every time you lose (or win), you still get people who complain the game is too hard, unfair, etc. Meanwhile, the less vocal portion of the player base that actually knows how to play has probably long since moved on, since they beat the game at like level 10 and it's only gotten less challenging ever since. Even I wouldn't be here if I wasn't hoping that the update adds a Hard mode (which is as simple as deactivating the stat boosts from the global unlock progress system).

Fair enough Silfir - in that case why not do what X-COM did with its novice/normal/classic and impossible difficulties? The new players can experience the story on easy and crank it up on normal while the pros can have the X-COM "Classic" and Impossible modes to play around with....hehe should be fun for all so now lets ROCK! :duke:

Can't tell you why not. I think difficulty levels are great!

My best guess regarding Ironcast not having any as of yet is that the developers had a minimal budget to work with and the time spent balancing difficulty modes is part of what had to get cut to make it.

Fair enough - hope more ppl's then buy this game so they have more money to bring extra content and/or difficulty levels and/or missions (AND WONT THAT BE GREAT!) for us in the future :)

i recognize some ambiance music from the old fallout games in ironcast, coincidence or hommage?
Rovient  [developer] Jun 26, 2015 @ 5:11pm
I wouldn't know on that one! Our sound guy, Ed, probably used similar libraries of ambience?

Any plans for expansions, dlc, free content updates, modding? I ran through the initial content quite quickly, and while I would love to recapture the enjoyment this game gave, I've simply run through all the experiences on offer.

Hello, i hesitated a long time to take this game but have finally bought it just 1 hour before the end of the last sales, after reading many of the steam reviews and watching some videos. What made me hesitated was the length of the game (enough long or not), the difficulty (too hard or not) and the story (too anti-french story or not). Finally i just tried the game after being convinced by some of the store reviews and like it very much, the brutal AI and challenge, the general ambiance and design, the traduction in my language, all make this game very nice. Thanks for this game that seems relaxing and interesting.

Thank you for buying and glad you enjoy it. It was really important to me (as someone with 2 close French friends) that the story did not vilify our neighbours any more than was necessarly (the English stole the technology that started the war, for example!).

In fact, as the story develops, it gets even more unclear as to who is the "bad guy".

Thanks for the nice answer, i'll write a positive french review on steam store after some play. :D:

I don't know where to put this, so i'll leave it here.
I was playing the "disable the vip" mission, and knocked his drives out at the same time as reducing his health below the retreat point. The game AI prioritized his health over the drives disabled factor and allowed him to retreat, regardless of me fulfilling the mission conditions.
Me thinks a tweak is in order, if possible.

I am new to this game and it would be quite decent, but what is really frustrating is the constant lack of ammunition. E.g. I should destroy 2 ironcast and not get enough ammo to destroy even one. Mostly the whole screen is full of useless repair nodes.
EDIT:
I just missed 4 times in a row with a hit chance of 82%. That game is frustrating like hell.
Are you sure the odds are calculated correctly?

Look at this link for basic instructions:

watch ironcast gameplay on internet.
If you can't attack on your turn use shield and movement to reduce damage for example.

Hallo developers, can you please tell me, why the difficulty of the game rises faster than the strength of my machinery? I am at global level 19 now, and with every level up I can beat fewer and fewer enemies. At level 19 already the first train is getting me, but if I am lucky I can defeat the second enemy, but the third never more. At the beginning I could almost get to the boss, maybe until global level 10. But at that point the difficulty has risen so rapidly, that now I have 0% chance to get over the second maybe third enemy. Where can I change some settings, or what am I doing wrong?
