set up a warthog with rudders
I used vJoy to create a virtual joystick: https://github.com/njz3/vJoy/
then I used Universal Controller Remapper to assign axes from my real joystick (Logitech Extreme 3D) to the virtual joystick (vJoy Stick 2): https://github.com/Snoothy/UCR
For me, I had to set the Z rotation axis to read as the X axis, and vice versa. So bizarre that this game swaps them.
I was unable to get the yaw (rudder/twist control) to work, even with reassigning axes; I had to disable it in the game's joystick menu, then I set the numpad + and - keys in the key rebinds menu for the throttle instead. Really annoying.
