Feedback / Issues
A couple things but im trying to keep it concise.

Gameplay

- build viability (shields / healing)
you will encounter healing prevention and shields are superior to healing. either you have a champ with innate shielding capabilities or you will be fishing for a very select few core memories (namely: ice shield, frostbite and glacial stomp; repulsive shield has too many cons), which is a severe limitation. we definitely need more memories offering shields or a revamp of existing memories / essences.

healing memories are nice and in combination with a shielding memory they re very useful. chomp is a favorite but e.g. beam of light just feels like a cheap knock off in comparison.

we do not have any essences offering shields.
the healing aspect is decently covered concerning essences imo.

- legendary essences
some of these are make or break for later stages in a run. having some kind of way to get your hands on one of those other than the existing rng would be a great addition.

e.g. gambling for like 500g at jonas' shop to get a random legendary essence or adding another point of interest that offers a challenge akin to spirit of light that rewards you with the choice of selecting 1 out of 2 random legendary essences would be great.

Multiplayer

- players leaving
had a bunch of people ditch a run early on. life happens but there s a vierty of different reasons. punishing players for leaving isnt appealing but offering some kind of reward system to incentivize players sticking to a run seems due to me.

- shop/jonas
recently encountered a few people attacking jonas to prohibit others from engaging with the shop. healing on jonas to hail mary the next map, maybe, but create jonas instances for each player or give him a time period of invulnerability.

- player behavior
has been a joy to play with most people concerning sharing loot, making use of the default middle mouse button command and such but there are a few bad apples everywhere. maybe implement a feature that allows you to ping an item in your possession or on the floor so others cannot take it but give a hint that they d want said item. as in, being able to trade with other players and a way to easily communicate what you re willing to trade beforehand would be neat.

on that note, often times you have a specific build with key items. being able to showcase, say 2 memories and/or essences, so others can see it in the tab overview or something would be neat.

- ping
it s the prologue and i d imagine you re aware but connectivity could use some finetuning

btw, great start. really enjoying the current version.
i just think that especially the shield situation hurts its longevity.

appreciate the response and you taking some time to read feedback from players on the steam forum.

guess i ll bother one more time, have some more inputs:

Balance Melee / Range

- dunno what to tell you, playing vesper or mist feels absolutely terrible in comparison to lacerta or yubar. ranged characters are at a huge advantage. nerfing ranged would be a mistake but melee chars need to be able to compete or get some innate utility abilities.

Essences

- we now have the essence of rigidity, which is nice. but the fact that it offers a flat amount of shield per hit (ignoring the fact that it s increased for cold damage which is ridiculous for several reasons) makes it useless in a variety of situations. i d simply change it to offer shield based on a percentage of the damage dealt for a start.

- new stuff like the essence of overload and of the giant are awesome additions, seeing more things like it would be great. implementing more niche essences along with the ability to easily trade with people would be a neat way to encourage coop engagement.

Multiplayer

- add a persistent chat and the ability to scroll in the chat ui. messages disappearing doesnt make any sense.

- still on the matter of people leaving, create ghost slots for people who left a coop session so other people can join the game. balancing newcomers would be a different topic but for a start you could easily give them the opportunity to spend the average amount of gold earned at jonas shop with shop rerolls based on the map progression before actually joining the game.

well those are my biggest qualms rn anyway.

Well, Mist has 3 dashes and an invulnerability spell, which is huge when you get to the point where everything one shots you. Vesper doesn't have a skill tree so we'll have to wait and see
