What do these shrines do? I'm enjoying the game very much :) just don't know what happens when I spend gold on these.

Oh they heal you. I had only run across them with full health before, cheers.

They heal everybody, and they have a range limit, so be careful when you activate them, because the group only gets to activate one once (and activator foots the gold cost)
