WASTED

Playing as the first character through the entire game.
Hi guys, I've been browsing the discussions and I'm hella interested if any of you did the same thing as me. Have you ever tried Force closing the game by Alt-F4 right after your death? Because it doesn't save the game at the moment of your death, it saves it after new character comes up. I've found myself in a spot where I'd abuse it from now on just for the sake of keeping my maxed out character. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Well, that it sort of beats the mechanics of the game where you die, start over, but this time better suited with knowledge so hopefully you don't die because of the same mistake. Permanent death beign a reasonable motivation to help you improve. Abusing a mechanic like this sort of beats the purpose of perma-death. But that's just my opinion, play as you want to play the game. ^^

That's what I wanted to hear, opinions :) Like I said, when I've done some ♥♥♥♥ that helped me overcome a weakness in a game, I can't part ways with it, 'cause at the back of my head it's still telling me to do it. I've ran across some people here asking how can they keep their character and I'm coming with a solution, not exactly "legal", but there it is. Especially, when it's a single player game, it's only your decision on how you play it. So, yea, no stress, thanks for typing a comment here :)

I do understand that playstyle when you are just learning the game, it does make the game less punishing as you learn. I do completely understand that some people find it appealing to use. I still am a big fan of adding certain difficulties (Be it only two, hardcore/normal) where people have a certain safe learning enviroment besides the courier run.

Kinda defeats the point of the game...

The point of the game is to have fun.
Losing progress in the game thrilling for some. And no fun for others.

Then the game simply isnt made for you. That's an important thing to learn.

Thats a very black/white (read: WRONG) way to look at it. If you enjoy the gameplay, the game is for you, even if you don't care for all of it. Its a single player game so its up to the player.

If the devs cared that much about it they would make it save on death. They didn't, so it might even be a lazy way to make a 'Casual' mode.

No, if you resort to save scumming because you don't like any aspect of the game...the game is NOT made for you. It's as simple as that.
Going further, that's what's wrong with the gaming industry in general. Every game has to appeal to absolutely everyone, while they shouldn't.

You don't like dying? Too bad, because that's an important aspect of the game.

I do hope they either keep the ability to alt-tab or ctrl-alt-delete in the game OR introduce a system where you don't lose your character. The amount of times i've died because of some glitch or something that gets 'fixed' the next day is pretty high, so doing this is honestly pretty warranted if you just want to focus on playing the game more fallout like as opposed to a constant slog of live-die-repeat. This is a mix of so many different ideas from so many sources executed so oddly well and I would hate to play it like a traditional roguelike...

So you prohibited me to play this game?

wtf... why do you even care?

As long as I PAID for a Single player game, it's for me regardless of how I play it. Keep it positive guys! What's the point of arguing, when you can DISCUSS. Just like Derpify said, this game has a pretty good story so I'd rather stick to it as my alter ego, not some randomly generated dude/dudess, more falloutlike. And atm I did it only once, didn't want to lose my character because of an exploding barrel ;_;

Hey hey. The way it works like that is because I'm sure people who'd play that way would play that way regardless (either via trainers/cheats/save game manipulation), and fixing it would actually take more work than it's worth to be honest.

I don't know if I 100% AGREE with "it's a game I paid for, I can do with it what I want!", since that's kinda really, really minimizing my craft and what I do (and moreover, people who try to play "outside" of the game's rules end up totally missing a lot of the tension and fun that're inherent to the design of the game), but in the case of save-scumming via quitting the game, it's something that I'm definitely aware of, and something I chose not to fix before release.
