inventory space...
yeah, I get it, this has roguelike elements, inventory management

but

10 spaces

and your essential gear is
leg armor
torso armor
head armor
melee weapon
gun
stack of ammo
stimpacks
food


which leaves 2 spaces to bring back extra loot...


it's kind of unfun when I have to leave 95% of the loot behind

I mean, I did find a fanny pack which expanded my size by 3, but the pack itself takes up 1, so it's a net of only +2

and then, what if I want to carry 2 types of ammo? nope, no space.
and then they have like 6 types of medicine buffing items, but there's no way I can carry all of those.

I mean, yeah, I know i'm not meant to bring back EVERYTHING, but couldn't they have given the player a base of 20, or even 15?

10 just seems way too low.

I have Bum Bag + Fanny Pack + Side Slung Fannu Pack which gives me 19 total inventory slots. I carry 3 weapons and 2 types of ammo, helemt and armor + some medistims and i still have 6-7 free inventory slots for random stuff (depending on my armor)

Yeah, in retrospect, it was a little bit restrictive, but my intent was to force players to specialize in one type of weapon. With the S.H.O.T.S. system, giving the player too many inventory slots made the Shootin' skill too important, since ammo and guns are pretty easy to find. My intent was to have players swap out the Melee weapon and Food/Stimpack slots in your inventory with different weapons that also used the same sort of ammo, or to allow players to take on a secondary weapon/ammo type.

Like other posters have said, you can find fanny packs that slot into different equip slots that can help with inventory space in the dormitory floors of the Cooler, but beyond that, you should also try messing with the Courier Box mechanic, which lets you take items out of the Cooler even if you end up blowing a run.

well, to be fair, i haven't gotten too far yet.

I just found a bottle of "Moscow pack mule" which gives +2 slots and I can take it as many as 10 times,

I guess that's how we do it.


and also, to be fair, I didn't know that the fanny packs were pretty easy to find on the floor 4-6 of the first cooler.
over a few runs, I manages to bring out a few of those for new characters in case the one I'm using dies.


although, one of my inital points was that until you manage to find these things, your basic essential gear fills up all the slots.

I'm not sure how to tell you to do it better.

I guess if I was making the game, I wouldn't make equipped armor take up inventory slots, but I dunno...

I usually do specialize in just 1 type of weapon, but I always have a melee weapon on me at all times, just in case i run out of ammo.
pistol ammo is pretty easy to find but the ammo for all the other weapons only drops in quantities of like, 1-3 bullets at a time and some weapons use dozens of ammo just to kill a single enemy. stack that on top of only being able to carry 100 of any given ammo type.

I've been doing runs lately with just the 3 armor slots filled, the 3 types of fanny packs equipped, a cutana and a vault clearer pistol. I had 19 , but now I have 21 slots from the moscow pack mule and I'm mostly using the extra space to lug back as many different types of ammo as i can find, a stack of liquid bread, a stack of junk food and maybe 1 or 2 of the more hard to find items.


I did just make it to the second cooler, and I died....because nothing in there drops any foor or medpacks or anything for healing and I didn't bring any in with me because I figured I would find more as i went along. but I guess not.

so I assume that I'm "meant" to farm the first cooler for the healing items and then bring them in with me to the second cooler? i dunno, those robots were doing massive damage and I'm actually not sure how I'm supposed to run 12 floors with only 5 stimpaks and 100 bullets with mexican banditos dodging my shots like agent smith in the matrix...
