Doesn't take too long.
This game is very much what I would call an exercise in Crisis Management. I strongly recommend reading up on a guide to at least help you better understand HOW the enemies operate, specifically regarding their attack patterns and how you can manage said patterns to control the field of play. You can't have absolute control, but you can very much steer the angles of attack to your advantage so you can manoeuvre more cleanly.
Aside from all that, one of the best tools you have at your disposal is to take a break; Give your hands a breather and come back after however long you might need. I've often found that a nice rest period and time to think on my strategies dramatically helps when I come back to the game for another go.
But all in all, You need to play more aggressively; Find the tempo, and dance to the pattern.
Good luck!
generators - a good clue to leave is when it breaks again (you even can check it, before leaving).
When you learn this rythm - the next hardest thing is to perfect your skill of taking out dogs, when they spawn at your current side. Other minor stuff is going to be handled mechanically at this point.
And... You still going to need some luck for a couple of situations you'll mess up during the run anyway
