Players who have played both colonization and the civ IV version, which do you prefer? Just curious.

Do you mean TAC The Authentic Colonization mod?

If yes then it's not nearly as good as the classic version of the game because they didn't resolve the problems with the natives.

In the orginal game all indians near to settlements become aggressive over time. In addition there is always a chance they just raid you if there is something valueable to be had. Like in the original game you cannot move a gold treasure around without guards.

But in Civ 4 Colonization you can because the indians never raid your gold treasure if you are at peace.

And that's one of the main problems the Civ 4 Colonization has. The natives are just spineless and never raid you or are any kind of threat like in the orginal game.

Play Civ 4 with Sitting Bull's mod. It plays almost like classic, but the graphics are better.

Classic - I have played at least once at each decade, 90s, 00s, 10s. I can foresee myself coming back to it by 2020s.

Modern (Civ4 engine) - I have beat it couple of times, and revisisted it once. I am done with it.

I do like that the modern version gives a non-independence victory option. That is a plus in its favor to me, but as a whole I prefer the original.

The civ4:colonization version is WAY better than the original 1994 version if you simply add on the free "Religion and Revolution" mod developed by a large team of colonization fans.

just Search Engine "civ4 Religion and Revolution" to find the free download, or go to CivFanatics website.

You didn't even understand what this thread is about:

It is about a comparison between Colonization classic version and Civilization 4: Colonization.

Civ 5 and After Earth has nothing to do with this thread nor was there any comparison. Sokakcocugu refered to Civ 4: Colonization and not to Civ 4.

And Civ 4: Colonization sucks so bad. The natives in this game are just spineless puppets and no threat througout the game whatsoever. While in the classic version they could attack you out of the blue and take over your newly gained treasure. Your european competetors are just as bad as the natives. The whole game is disgusting and none of the mods tried to make the passive AI somewhat better.

Classic is more refined modern looks rushe dits nice the graphics and such where updated but the game play and how rushe dit feels and how unfisnhed the game is ruins the experaince
