Crash when setting graphics

As soon as i max up graphics + choose direct 3d direct x 6 the game crash when i click on accept. what to do????

I didn't test to enter at settings and modify from the game, i just wanted to activate rudders and throttle options of my joystick, and i was able to do it editing L3.INI.
I oly had to change those two settings from 0 to 1... and my joystick back to life !!!

I owe you a big one, man... thankyou very much.

Thanks Klonix i gave you 300 points. It fixed my steam version.
Just download that software and right-click on l3.exe and then properties or sth.
just launch it on win 8 and it runs. Where to find L3.exe ? find it on Steam and manage and go to files.
BAck then it was a dream to have a 3fx card. It needed a motherboard with its slot in it. It was expensive and we were looking at pictures of them and game screenshots in magazines with our mouths wide open. Then nVidia came up and crushed 3dfx era with its third card. Now you don't technically need a dedicated card but the motto of graphic card buying and market still remains the same. Card or chip or VR producers didn't pull their hands on game industries. Our best-loving games go to bed with them. I think it's good to say 'A lot of things have changed but some things doesn't change.
