"classic" achievements
There are over 70 achievements for this game and half of them are these "classic" duplicates. Remove or merge them, please. If you must keep them, make a separate store page for classic (Life of Pixel without the "super", I assume), and put them there. But they do not belong here.

I suggest giving both games access to the "classic" achievements, dropping the "classic", deleting all of the non-classic achievements (except those that don't have a matching classic), and then, when the player starts the game, check if they have gotten the normal achievements (that would have been deleted by this point), and awarding the equivalent classic achievement automatically.

There is no point in forcing the player to download an earlier version of the game and re-do everything they already did (and sometimes more) just to get the rest of the achievements. That's absurd and quite frankly qualifies as achievement spam.

If you liked the game enough to want to replay the entire thing, then more power to you. I didn't, though, and quite frankly see it as a huge waste and disrespect of the player's time.

To get the classic version, right click on the game, go into properties, find the "betas" tab, and opt into the "beta". It will then download the old version of the game, Life of Pixel without the 'Super'.

Ok thank. It's not because I like the game that much, it's for the first achievements, to replay it and get a better overall. It's very fun and I like the concept, but I'm not really good at plaforming games :(

I mean, you already fulfilled the requirements of the achievements. I don't think anyone would hold it against you if you used steam achievement manager to force the "classic" achievements.

MANY of the levels have been altered (some significantly) between Classic and Super, so it wouldn't make much sense to have your achievements & ingame progress unlocked instantly.

Okay, NoVa will hold it against you.

I still think they need to be two separate games. Let people pay for super and make classic a free game. Then if people want to waste their time redoing the 100+ levels to get achievements they've already earned a second time, they can do so optionally.

Agreed. That be more easy. To swich from one to other. :no_thing_soldier:

The reason it ended up like this is so that people who had already bought 'life of pixel' could get the new version for free. Splitting it now into 2 separate games would be complicated and cost a bit..

Think I used to own the original game. Just for me to understand: it is no longer possible to acquire the classic achievements because the original game is no longer sold ?

Or is there an option to play the classic version ingame ? Thanks for clarifying this.

You have to go into the betas and opt in to play classic. The whole issue is that I think the original should be split off into its own game.

And btw, dev, you can do this without shoving both sets into one game. Look at Senua's sacrifice and Skullgirls, and QUBE Director's Cut

Senua includes a VR version with its own set of achievements, which shows in the library as a separate game
Skullgirls includes an endless beta version, again as a separate library entry
QUBE DX has both the DX version and the original version, again as separate library entries.

Again, I only bought one game there: Skullgirls. The endless beta came with it and appears as a separate library entry.

If you're actually willing to put up with 100%ing this game twice, go into options>betas and install the beta. You have to 100% the old version to get the old achievements.

Stupid, right? Why there's two sets of achievements instead of just one is beyond me. You may as well just force them with SAM and at least then you aren't wasting your time repeating things you already did.

There are 2 sets of achievements because the decision was made to automatically give everyone with the existing game the new version of the game.
The easiest way to do this was to upgrade the existing game.
Because a lot of levels had been reworked the old achievements couldn't just be transferred across to the new game.
Because deleting all the old achievements and high scores would have been cruel to those that had achieved them it was deemed they should be retained.
And that is why we have ended up in the position we have.
