That's pretty much what they did with Asscreed Shadows. They started development in 2020 right after George Floyd. They found Lockley's "research" from 2016-2019 and thought they would be able to use anti-Trump sentiment to score virtue points and make money.

They got real excited with all the anti-Trump lawfare and they listened to the MSM claiming first Joe Biden was perfectly competent (should have been their first warning sign), and then that Kamala would run away with the election (because they listened to the biased polls instead of going back to the one and only poling agency that was accurate in 2016).

When Nov of 2024 happened they realized they might have lost 64% of their player base in the 2nd largest gaming market (the USA) and they had also offended the entirety of the third largest gaming market (Japan).

They kept scrambling to fix the hit to their reputation, tried to score some DEI virtue points by delaying until Black History Month but they even missed that sell by date because of bugs and glitches and the complaints from Japan.

Now a parody game will make more profit than their AAAA game can.
